Between the desolate and the chaotic. I run.
I run to the greener grass, the one you told me would be safe.
Yet here, I watch the buildings burn,
The earth shakes, the turtle beneath cries.
I want to scream. But I’ve lost my sound.
My mother’s womb, an unfamiliar place.
My substance, like melted lava stripped from my bones.
I am a shell, fragile and brittle.
Pull me at my strings, I’m at your command.
Call me a number for I have forgotten my name.
Strip me from the roots of this earth,
Drench me in your oil.
Let greed eat me, let ego grit me.
I should have stayed in my garden.
Where flowers bloomed, when kissed with water.
Breathed with the trees, held their branch
If I had stopped searching, if only I stopped and looked,
I would have seen how green my grass had been.
This fence between us only exists in your mind.
For all grass is green, if we water it.
You made me forget. They made me feel.
It was my only home, our one home.
My heart beats with her.
Not with yours.
My blood runs through her stream.
My bones carry the weight of her pain.
My eyes see beauty in all her geometry.
The trees take their last breath,
So you close my eyes… for them to remain open.

because every moment is perfect so long as you are present. sometimes you don’t need to climb that mountain, or tick off your bucket list. when we spend energy chasing that feeling, we loose sight of what we have, right now. the most profound moments are sometimes the most simplest. because the everyday life is simple. in shared dinners, in written poetry, in sinking your feet in the sand. sometimes the grass isn’t greener on the other side. maybe, we just need to water our own grass.

Surreal to be capturing the illumination on the world’s oldest culture in Alice Springs @parrtjimaaustralia 🥹⭐️
When @heretics.studio asked me to work on this production, there was no hesitation, returning to Alice has always been like coming back home.
I truely believe you haven’t seen the real Australia without coming to the Red Centre. Not only is the natural landscape a sight that needs to be felt and experienced through the sacredness and beauty but to learn from the Indigenious communities, to listen and immerse in their culture is an integral necessity in our current climate.
