Hello, I’m Vanessa Saul.
I am a multidisciplinary visual and performance artist working across painting and the body. My practice explores identity, womanhood, and the ways we adapt to change within contemporary life.
Much of my work is shaped by personal experience and an ongoing reflection on culture, transformation, and growth.
This space is where I share my process, performances, and evolving body of work.
Welcome.

AN IMPROVISED CHOREOGRAPHY
Movement becomes language when words fall short. This performance explores the mind, the spirit, and the core of my creative expression where intuition meets intention. Dancing is not merely skill; it is a vessel for ideas, emotion, and the unseen.
I invite you to experience the rhythm that shapes thought, emotion, and presence.

One of my favorite pieces and a true conversation starter.
Exhibited last year during the Tukutane Dar Arts Week at Nafasi Art Space @nafasiartspace ,this work responded to the theme “Invisible Connections.”
I embraced my hesitation and gave Maasai beads a central role, grounding me and connecting me to my origins. Through this piece, I explore the invisible threads that shape identity, memory, and belonging.
(COMMENT "INVISIBLE CONNECTIONS" and ill send you the title and artist statement. )

RECAP! on a performance I did in June under THE COLLECTIVE Lead by @deja_vu_studios_ in collaboration with @mkukinanyota at the CREATION AFRICA FESTIVAL held at Alliance Française.
Kicked off my 2025 performance season at the Creation Africa Festival, Alliance Française Dar es Salaam, last Saturday, with a powerful choreography inspired by Jean-Luc Lagrace’s Kanuni kwa Kuishi Maisha ya Kisasa. Blending literature and movement, this piece marks my journey as a performing and visual artist with thanks to a collaboration held within it exploring modern life’s complexities. Grateful for this platform and excited for what the future holds in this puzzle I’m mounting.#CreationAfrica #PerformanceArt #TanzanianArt”
“Vanessa” | 2022 | Acrylic & Leaf Prints | 80 × 60 cm
My name means butterfly in Greek—so I painted one. Using the butterfly’s life cycle as a mirror for my own growth, each stage and encounter became a mark, a texture, a leaf print. This piece is about transformation, identity, and the ecosystems of experience that shape who we are.
