EP 12: Cold Krush, Campbell Terrace, and Our First Demos
The first time we tried to link with Cold Krush, we got ran up out of Campbell Terrace. 😂

EP 11: The Talent Show That Changed Everything
Me and Snipes skipped school and met up with Filthe at E.E. Smith to audition for a talent show.
That day was crazy but the talent show was even CRAZIER!!

How Filthe Earned His Place!
Filthe earned his way into the group and BECAME the group.
Who remembers when we were called Necessary Ruffness? 😂

Our First Studio Session
We had just enough money for 2 hours and walked out with nothing.
This day I learned what a kick and a snare was because I spent the whole session helping the engineer make the beat.😂
Then Filthe spit his verse. Yoooooo! The illest dude ever!
I later found out he stayed up all night practicing that verse in the mirror.
I ain’t forget that. I miss my dude and loved how open he was about this type of stuff.

Filthe’s Hidden Background
A lot of people didn’t REALLY know Filthe like some of us did.
They saw what was on the surface, but not everything behind it.
There were layers to him that didn’t come out right away.
Some of that shaped how he moved, how he rapped, and how he carried himself.
Certain things make more sense when you understand where someone came from.
Also what is said about his parents in this clip came from him directly. I want people to know that no matter what his Mother & Father were PEOPLE first and they were loved and they loved Carlos (Filthe).
When did you meet Filthe?

How I Met Filthe
First time I met Filthe was in art class.
Then he found my crib by walking the entire neighborhood. 😂
That told me everything.
Some people show you who they are early.
When did you realize someone was different?

I Never Wanted to Be a Rapper
When I got back to Fayetteville, I just wanted to DJ.
I had a small setup and kids from the neighborhood would come over.
I’d play beats and try to get them to rap.
Eventually I realized I was already doing the work.
That’s when I started rapping myself.

i wanted that Numark DM1775A mixer badly!!
I got a job pushing carts at the commissary in Germany.
I saved up around $750 trying to buy a Numark mixer I saw at the BX.
Right before leaving Germany, I was ready to buy it.
My father told me to wait until we got back to the States.
When I got to Fayetteville, the same mixer was almost double the price.
I thought it was over.

That Slick Rick album got me in trouble. Pops wasn’t having it! 😂😂😂
Did you ever get in trouble over listening to rap?

EP 4: I Started Collecting Records to Scratch
When I started buying records, it wasn’t just to listen.
I was around 11 years old at Rhein Main Air Force Base.
I used to go to a spot in Frankfurt called World of Music. You could take records off the shelf and play them in the store. This spot was crazy! I loved it there!
I bought EPMD and Slick Rick before I even had turntables.
I just knew I wanted to do what I saw at the BX.
Any Germany folks ever hit World of Music?

EP 3: The BX Audio Section Changed My Life
I was at the BX on base at Rhein Main AFB browsing tapes and wandered into the audio section.
A salesman was demonstrating turntables and a mixer.
From that point on DJing became my thing but only because of the sampler on it. I wanted to do that AND be able to scratch.
I need that Numark DM1775A!

EP 2: The Maze: Where I First Heard Rap
After seeing it, I finally heard it.
We had a spot called The Maze in Walldorf, Germany. One kid had a boombox.
The Breakin’ soundtrack. Ice-T’s “Reckless”. What I thought was “cat scratching.”
I just absorbed it.
Hip-hop was shared in real time between people.
Where did you first hear rap?
