Joining the celebration of this year’s Venice Architecture Biennale, we are glad to share our contribution, an experimental short film for the Hong Kong Pavilion. This film, “A Picturesque Stroll (HK),” presents a midair meander through the footbridges of Hong Kong. The title cues Yve-Alain Bois’s essay, “A Picturesque Stroll around ‘Clara-Clara’,” which examined how architecture might be conceived from scenography as an alternative to static orthography. The discourse may be found unexpectedly relevant in the context of today’s AI video making. Despite the ability to generate convincing spatial experiences, it does not construct architectural spaces, but instead, cinematic, or Piranesian illusions that are consistent in time but incoherent in space. This film is made with emerging AI video generation tools and real street views on Hong Kong. It samples images from online street views and use them as keyframes for AI tools to create ambiguous interpolations. Director, video creator, and editor: Haotian Zhang @haotian____zhang , Nero Chenxuan He @nerohe , Ziyue Sun @_fringeo_ Sound Designer: Peter Czibolya Sound Collection: Yunxiu Li, Zichen Xiao Screenwriter: Haotian Zhang, Tianying Li @li_tianying Subtitle scripts generated with DeepSeek using excerpts from Ye Si’s poems. The project is a part of “Projecting Future Heritage: a Hong Kong Archive” curated by Fai Au @au_fade , Ying Zhou @y.i.n.g.z , and Sunnie Lau @sosa.studio with the curatorial team Wing Yuen @r.wingyuen and Jonathon Yeung @____jyth . #labiennaledivenezia #venice #biennale #kling #aivideo

“Talk to me AI, Talk to me” is my submission to the #cloudslentoutusediscipline initiated by @lostritto @cattydanzhang This is a dynamic cloud of digital geolocation data, where each particle is precisely identified by its x, y, and z coordinates and updates in real time. Serving as a vast network of interconnected information, the cloud can be explored, analyzed, spatialized, filtered, clustered, manipulated, and exported, providing a comprehensive visualization of large data sets. Despite its complexity, it strives to minimize its digital footprint by representing itself in text—ensuring that its structure remains documentable, readable, and replicable by non-human systems 。

20220525 two years ago, invited by @aaronbetsky & @deloguarchitecture , I have stayed in Capri Italy for a month producing an architectural proposal to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Convegnio di Paesagio, Italian Landscape Conference. This is the first time automavison has heavily involved in the design interface which makes the interface itself an architectural proposal.

10 months ago, on October 31, 2022, my team has successfully created a digital landscape in Harajuku, Tokyo. We're thrilled that it has become a local attraction. Now, as we finalize the second phase of the project, the time has come to share this work. Team: Ellwood Chen @ellwoodchen & Austin Lightle @austinlightle Arising from the interplay between humankind and nature, the courtyard garden assumes a distinctive stance within Asian cultures. In navigating the evolution and flux of both manageable and elusive components, a garden designer must conceive with a fusion of unwavering and adaptive foresight, poised to anticipate and embrace potential forthcoming realities. The intricate interplay of conceptualization and revelation seamlessly aligns with our innovative concept for the autostereoscopic 3D display: a realm bounded, yet rife with the unforeseen. Thus, materializes a digital urban landscape experiment 。

Invited by @tunicastudio in collaboration with photographer @katebiel , our work on the title of "Bimbo Decomposition" was published in TUNICA MAGAZINE ISSUE NO.8. Phygital fabrication as garments is applied to models. The unique phygital fabrication technique is developed and altered from the original workflow I have designed for the "Textile Hacking Lab" seminar co-taught with @peter_testa at @sciarc . Each garment on the model has reached its phygital fabrication limitation by connecting individual simulations into continuous patches, completely exhausting the computer hardware. Each image took 2-3 days to render. Could not be mass produced. Unnecessary. But, cultured and authentic. New collaboration with artist Fanglu Lin @linfanglu_lulu will be displayed in Yunnan Provincial Museum // Invited by the 12th International Fiber Art Biennale committee, our team created new techniques on the topic of phygital fabrication to disassemble and reassemble the structure, the physics, and the appearance of existed material that has standardized fabrication workflow. No normal maps or displacement maps have been used to create the material. No digital cloned have been made through out the process. Only one file from the beginning to the end. As always, we have challenged material behaviors and fabrication standards // File Size: 125 GB Required Ram: 192 GB Team: Yibo Yuan 。

22SP Nero He Seminar at Virginia Tech @archdesignvt //   PHYGITAL CONSTRUCTION : A PILE OF THINGS   The class introduced a designed quasi-autonomous workflow to rethink physical building construction in digital environment. By applying the mesh-centered template, the construction started with a curated idea and then taken over by computer simulation. The installation construction with construction wastes not only shows the consciousness of material limitations but also embrace the unexpected possibilities provided by the computer.  //   Review guests: Andrew Chittenden @andrewchittenden , Jesse Gates @zoom_dandy , Jonathan Warner @jwarn18 //   Students: Group 1: Matias Montenegro Sandoval, Kylie Simon, Yibo Yuan Group 2: Yifan Zhang, Ziyi Zhang, Ayesha Shaikh Group 3: Aira Hill, Peter Rupkey Group 4: Matt Gilmore, Nauman Haider 。
