"Yekpare" is a storyteller which narrates the 8500 year story of Istanbul. The story embraces symbols from Pagans to Roman Empire, from Byzantine Empire to Latin Empire, and finally from Ottoman Empire to Istanbul at the present day. Haydarpaşa Train Station, with its brilliant architectural forms, is the building on which the story is projected. The connection between middle east to west has been provided by Istanbul and Haydarpaşa since 1906. In the 50’s it served as a door for millions of internal emigrants who have triggered the chaos in Istanbul's dialectical daily life scenes. The project's conceptual, political and geographical positioning, the location’s depth of field and the fact that the entire show can be watched from Kadıköy coast; make "Yekpare" a dramatic presentation. The first day of the performance also marks the 47th deathday of Nazım Hikmet Ran, the famous Turkish poet. We started out with a quote from his epic novel, "Human Landscapes from My Country": “At Haydarpaşa Train Station, in the spring of 1941, it is three o’clock. Sun, exhaustion and rush lay on the stairs...” •____________________________________• Scenario & Project Management: Erdem Dilbaz Art Direction & Visuals: Deniz Kader – Candaş Şişman Music & Sound Design: Görkem Şen Technical support : Alican Aktürk - Refik Anadol (griduo.com) Modelling: Gökhan Uzun – Can Dinlenmiş (prospektif.org) Special Thanks to: Efor Production, Visio – Vox, Sinevizyon, Yakup Çetinkaya, Gökhan Kurtuluş, Lokman Doğmuş, Baran Güleşen, Ümit Özdemir, Tolga Dizmen, Yunus Dölen, Murat Durusoy, Ahmet Türkoğlu, Mustafa Nurdoğdu, Burhan Ersan. The island where the Maiden's Tower is located has been used before Christ. It has become one of the most prominent indispensable symbols of Istanbul since the Byzantine period. It has been there for centuries with its islands close to the beach but difficult to reach and on the islet. It always mixes with the city's silhouette in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul. It is a part of the city. We defined the Maiden Tower about how the city reveals the energy of the city every 15 minutes through Coca Cola Energy themes. We uncovered the high energy that spread through every moment of Istanbul, the Bosphorus, the business life and everyday life through the Maiden Tower. We have worked together with AFF Agency for the promotion of the new Coca Cola product ENERGY, designed to provide energy for those living an active city life. Galata Tower was chosen as one of the areas to be mapped due to its structural similarity with the form of the product, with convenient viewing areas and optimal acoustics. The sound design of the study, prepared under the direction of Onur Şentürk, was made by Opus Jingle Agency. Our audio-visual performance was shown between 20:00 and 00:00 every evening from 5 to 8 December 2019. The screenings were repeated every 15 minutes. We were able to pass the energy of the city to the audience through the Galata Tower. #10nerdyears, Under An Alias, Weimar, 2012. Awarded by Ars Electronica best Vfx/Animation Telling Weimar’s story was incredibly educational for an Istanbul based group of artists. It gave an opportunity for nerdworking illustrate a story from another perspective. Dozens of people spent long hours immersing themselves the rich cultural background, whilst taking into consideration the opinions of previous researchers. Under An Alias, created by collaboration of international artists and working completely in cyberspace, made its debut as the main act of the Genius Loci Festival. #10nerdyears, @signalfestival - Prague, 2014. Brilliant work of a collaboration by @cbuyukberber & @ahkosmos The Michna Palace is one of the largest palaces in Prague where our audio-visual perfomance was seen in 3D. This early baroque Palace can be found adjacent to Kampa park in Lesser Town, close to and facing the River Vltava. Around 1580, Ottavio Aostalli built a summer palace here on the site of an old Dominican convent. In 1623 it was rebuilt in the Baroque style, but over time it became a ruin. In 1767 the Michna Palace was sold to the army and over the years it became a crumbling ruin. After 1918 it was converted into a sports centre with a training ground in the old palace garden. It is now the Museum of Physical Culture and Sport. We read the building with its history and its influences on the environment of Prague. During the production process, we had been discussing this correlation between the influences and Prague as in one concept was "emerging". "The basic themes are always the same. They may be summarized by notions such as self-determination, self-organization, and self-renewal; by the recognition of a systemic interconnectedness over space and time of all natural dynamics; by the logical supremacy of processes over spatial structures; by the role of fluctuations which render the law of large numbers invalid and give a chance to the individual and its creative imagination; by the openness and creativity of an evolution which is neither in its emerging and decaying structures, not in the end result, predetermined." (Erich Jantsch, Astrophysicist, The Self-Organizing Universe, p. 8) "The phenomenon of emergence takes place at critical points of instability that arise from fluctuations in the environment, amplified by feedback loops. Emergence results in the creation of novelty, and this novelty is often qualitatively different from the phenomenon out of which it emerged." #10nerdyears, Istanbul, 2013. Flexibility, concentration, speed and thrill. Being in an agent/ spy movie’s indispensable Laser Room caused all these actions. We’ve actualised the space where the agents passes through the lasers to reach the precious goal at the end of the room ! We’ve set a 7.3x2.5x2.5 m modular construction. Therefore we construct the playground in 2 hours to wherever we want. We made the experience design using 200 mW green lasers. We connected the laser network to the circuit managed by Arduino Mega. We set security cams and set in some smoke to make the players work easier. Although it is fun for the players to play we’ve set a compelling parcour for them. We set an automatic security system for 200mW lasers that may scratch the eye retina and may burn the skin. Whenever the player touches the lasers, the system turns off automatically, the lights are on and the alarms get activated. Players are expected to be speedy and nimble in a 3 min time period. Good Luck!
