Historical Trier Landmark Puzzle Tour!
When @marilovespuzzles and @nerd_puzzle came to visit, it was the perfect opportunity to do some puzzling on the go and explore ancient sites of Trier's rich Roman history.
We visited the most iconic sites of Germany's oldest city, and also visited Burg Eltz castle, Bernkastel-Kues (town with cute wooden houses) and Luxembourg with its massive stone walls.
* Porta Nigra - the black gate, part of the ancient city wall and the only one of four gates still standing.
* Roman Amphitheatre - location of gladiators and public spectacles
* Römerbrücke - Roman Bridge that is still used today and is a UNESCO world heritage site.
* Trier Circus- doesn't exist anymore, but Cooo found it on the brass map. Location of chariot races.
* Basilika - throne room of Emperor Constantine and now a church with palace attached on the side
The walking tour of Trier can be done in three hours and includes the best ice cream, amazing churches, seeing a giant stone foot and finding out what a vomitorium is. 😅
It was so much fun travelling with Jim and Mari and showing them this corner of Germany!

May the 4th Be With You! Today seemed like the perfect day to post this one. I admit that I originally grabbed this at a swap in hopes that Jim and Mari would do it with me. Luckily, with only minimal arm twisting, they agreed to tackle it! We had a blast working on this one over the course of a couple days.
The true highlight of this experience, though, was towards the end when we were left with all the dark pieces and Jim decided to showcase his ability to instantly identify any snippet with concerning accuracy. I don't know what he was seeing, but apparently there is a distinct difference between tidbits of Darth Vader's helmet, Death Star, X-wing engine, and TIE fighter wing. It was equal parts impressive and horrifying to watch and I don't think I'll ever get over it.

Adventures continue with a couple days exploring Munich! From soaking in beautiful churches and palaces, eating delicious food, imitating statues and fountains, sqeezing into tiny staircases, searching for as many views-from-heights as we can find (a.k.a. "being a mountain goat")....we got into as many shenanigans as we could while counting down the hours until the @speedpuzzle World Series!

Just the smallest taste of the fun we've had *in between* puzzle rounds on this trip! Exploring London, shenanigans with @uk_jigsaw_puzzle , a week of Germany adventures with @speedpuzzle.eu .... and that's just the first two weeks! It's amazing that something as silly as speed puzzling has made all these adventures possible. What an extraordinary weekend we had at the @uk_jigsaw_puzzle speed puzzling championships....Yes, it’s A Thing! 🧩
Aaaand, I was an *actual* celebrity for 15 minutes! 😂Why? Because the beautiful people at @ravensburgerglobal chose my #painting of Old Father Thames to be the 1000-piece puzzle revealed for the first time to competitors in the Teams category at the championships. The brilliant winning team of four finished it in just 54 minutes! 🤩🏆
Running commentary on a live feed was broadcast throughout the venue and globally on YouTube by @nerd_puzzle who invited me to join the commentary team for 10 minutes - its was such fun.
🤩 Afterwards, people queued up to talk to me and get their puzzle signed.
Everyone I met at the event was simply lovely, and I had so much great feedback about my painting! To be surrounded by hundreds of puzzlers - supportive of each other, kind, and just having fun - was a welcome tonic in a such a troubled world.

Day 1 of @uk_jigsaw_puzzle UK Nationals is in the books!! We did way more fun / people / puzzles than we took photos, but we got a few snaps of commentary (including getting to commentate the pairs round TOGETHER!) 🎙🎧, gorgeous individual puzzles 😍🧩, meeting fabulous artists 👩🎨🎨, and some delightful team practice ⏰️🔥🥳! Get some sleep and let's do it all again tomorrow, friends! ❤️❤️
