Nerat David’s The Dilemma of Waiting is a 36 × 36 inch charcoal and acrylic work that considers waiting as a suspended psychological condition rather than a pause between departures. Straight rails organise the composition, but the advancing dusk unsettles any certainty of arrival. The work lingers in the moment when direction appears visible yet remains unresolved. Here, waiting becomes less about delay than about the tension between movement and hesitation.

I had such an amazing opening yesterday at Resonance: 15 Truths. ✨
I’m truly grateful to @_oneartgallery for this opportunity, and to an incredible curator @mrwaduud he really brought everything together so beautifully. The colors, the arrangement… everything felt so thoughtful and well put together.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support, it genuinely means a lot to me. And a special thank you to my friend turned sister @the_nanret ❤️

My oeuvre centers on solitude as a necessary pause, an honest space for reflection, resilience, and quiet processing. It acknowledges that we are allowed to step back, to sit with our thoughts, and to gather ourselves without pressure. More than anything, the series I’ll be showing offers a moment, one that encourages you to slow down, reflect, and return to yourself with clarity and strength.
I will be exhibiting in the show “Resonance: 15 Truths,” which opens on Saturday, April 25, 2026, and will run until May 30, 2026, at One Art Gallery.
*Opening:* Saturday, April 25, 2026 | 3 PM – 9 PM
*Duration:* Exhibition runs until May 30, 2026
*Venue:* One Art Gallery, 2/5 Idowu Ajao Street, Ajao Estate, Anthony Village, Lagos.

Even after the stress, the paint stains, and the moments of doubt, creating still feels like a form of relaxation to me. There’s always this urge to return to the canvas, the colours, and the ideas waiting to be brought to life.
This was one of the most challenging pieces I’ve worked on this year, and honestly, it has only made me look forward to taking on even more challenging works.
Thanks to @abiminacollection_

I had the opportunity to collaborate with @abiminacollection_ and it pushed me in ways I didn’t expect. The process wasn’t smooth at the start cause I was confused, due to the size of the material, and it honestly felt a bit messy.
But working with the sketch changed everything. It became my guide, helping me understand how to approach and manipulate the painting with more intention. Will be sharing more of my process

Before Us is a series that honors women who make space for other women, those who choose support over competition, who show up with genuine care, and who guide younger ones toward becoming fuller, freer versions of themselves, even beyond what they had.
This piece (untitled) focuses on women who shield others from harsh experiences, women who quietly stand in the way of harm, refusing to let the next person endure what they once did.
Because not every woman chooses this. And that choice is what makes it powerful.
Untitled (Before us series)
Size: 30 by 38 inches
Medium: Charcoal Pencil and acrylic on canvas
Year: 2026.

Currently working on a new series, “Before Us” —inspired by my mother and the women i grew up around. Their strength lives in this work and I can’t wait to share more.

Would you rather know the truth early or be protected from it?
Growth doesn’t show up instantly. That’s the work of consistency. Most times, others see your progress before you do.
So if you’re not seeing it yet, don’t quit cause your better is closer than you think. I read a quote that kept me on course which says “Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.”
— Pablo Picasso.

Being a full-time artist has taught me that the mind is everything. And creating brings stability and ease to the mind.
Your thoughts matter.
Your way of expression matters.
I don’t bend to opinions on how I should create.
Instead, I give myself time to learn, to practice, and improve through creating art
My advice is simple: learn to do your own thing.
That’s where true expression begins.
I hope this inspires someone out there creative or not.

Welcome to 2026✨
2025 reminded me that I’m stronger than I thought and that community matters. I set boundaries, learned new things, and started choosing what deserves my energy.
I didn’t hit all my art goals, and I played small in moments that needed boldness but awareness changes everything.
This year, I’m choosing consistency over comparison, boldness with humility, positive creation, and authenticity. Walking into rooms without apology and becoming who God purposed me to be. And I hope you choose to do same.
