A JOURNEY IN MINIATURE: ANIMAL HIGHLIGHTS 💧🌱 Presented by the @aust_society_of_miniature_art , 'A Journey in Miniature' brings together an extraordinary range of works that demonstrate the precision, skill and imagination demanded by the form. Working within the discipline of scale—where every detail is heightened and nothing can be overlooked, artists explore subjects limited only by their imagination, across painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed media. A Journey in Miniature is showing at NERAM from Fri 1st May - Sun 7th June. For purchase enquires, visit the gallery or call (02) 6772 5255. . . UPCOMING EXHIBITION: POCHETTES EN FÊTE 👛👜 Pochettes en Fête celebrates the elegance, glamour and enduring allure of the vintage handbag. Bringing together a selection of beautifully crafted pochettes, clutches and evening bags alongside contemporary artworks, the exhibition explores fashion accessories not simply as objects of style, but as carriers of memory, identity and cultural history. From intricate beadwork and luxurious textiles to sculptural forms and exquisite detailing, these vintage and contemporary pieces speak to changing fashions, social rituals and the artistry of adornment across decades. Presented as a special fundraising exhibition in support of New England Regional Art Museum, Pochettes en Fête invites visitors to experience a playful and sophisticated dialogue between fashion, art and collecting. The vintage handbag collection, generously donated by Jan White to raise funds for the gallery, forms the heart of the exhibition. Pochettes en Fête will open at NERAM on Friday the 29th of May. Just finished a week-long residency at NERAM that I won through the Packsaddle Exhibition last year. I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to do this - just to focus on my artmaking practice and think about where I go next with it was a real gift. I was able to get a new drawing started and finished as well as get out and about collecting lots and lots of reference images for future works. Armidale is so beautiful at this time of year! Rod also got lots of work done, so I think our next exhibition in October will be pretty good! Thank you to the Packsaddle Group and to NERAM for a great week!

HABITAT: CHRISTINE JAMES 🌳 'Habitat' looks at aspects of the upland wetland and Ramsar Listed reserve, Little Llangothlin, on Banbai Country. The artwork in this series forms a continuance of the concerns outlined in her previous works about other Australian wetlands and their catchments and explores Australia’s rapidly-disappearing biodiversity. We would also like to send our appreciation to the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service and other groups involved in the support and conservation of Little Llangothlin. Habitat is on at NERAM until Sunday 7th June. For purchase enquiries, please contact NERAM on (02) 6772 5255. . . CREDIT: Image 1: Christine James, Temperate Grassland and Tree Plantation, 2025.
