to Sayon Bigg Yunn Lee; my father. one of my best friends. the very person who is responsible for me pursuing a career in music :
if it were not for you, i would not be where i am or who i am today.
i boastfully tell the story of how my dad is the whole reason i make music. he’d hear me singing and ask.. ”did u write that?” tiny me says “no thats hannah montana dad :)” it wasn’t always hannah montana, but he’d ask everytime. until one day he asked if i’d ever tried writing my own songs.. maybe? but i had not the confidence to share my words just yet. he never gave up though. he asked and asked and asked until one day i mustered the courage to dive into the abyss with him. i was barely 9yrs old. he put me in the booth and we made our first song; children of the hood 🥹 one i still remember the hook and verse to til this day. he was the first person to put me on a mic. first person to sit down and produce a track for me. first person to produce an EP with me. first person to BELIEVE IN ME, TO SEE ME. i truly owe my perseverance in music to him. because no matter where life took me as i grew, he NEVER let me stray away from my gift and ALWAYS encouraged me to go after what i wanted. he saw a star in me before i ever blossomed into neptune.
i’ll miss his physical presence so dearly.. oh my God will i. yet in my current state of grief, i can feel his energy surrounding me, urging me to be what he’s always seen in me. im blessed to have your producer tag in my discography, legend.
i thank God for you, dad. i thank you for the love you’ve given us all in this lifetime. watch, protect, keep on loving us. we’ll never stop loving you.
