The Northeastern Pennsylvania Chamber Music Society would like to thank all those who worked tirelessly to make our 10th anniversary season finale production of Stravinsky's "The Soldier's Tale" a huge success! This culmination brings us great joy and we could not have done this without our donors, supporters, and volunteers!
This event was sponsored, in part, by a grant from the Luzerne Foundation, and the armature and Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Additional support by the Philadelphia Foundation and the Margaret R. and Herbert R. Wakefield Memorial Fund.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary season, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chamber Music Society presents its most ambitious production yet: Igor Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale, a thrilling work that blends live chamber music, dramatic narration, dance, and puppetry into one unforgettable theatrical experience.
Based on a Russian folk tale, it follows a soldier lured by the Devil into exchanging his most prized possession for the promise of wealth and power, only to discover that some losses cannot be undone.
Featuring world-class musicians, Hollywood actor and narrator Keisuke Hoashi, a life-size puppet, and a cast of dancers and performers directed by Wyoming Seminary's Jason Sherry and choreographed by Bernardine Vojtko, this is a rare opportunity to experience a landmark work of 20th-century music theater, right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Admission is free, but seating is limited. Reserve your seats today to guarantee your spot at this one-night-only community event.

The deep, organic resonance of the bass clarinet weaves through the seamless sections of York Bowen’s Phantasy Quintet, creating a single, continuous shape. In Christopher Cerrone’s Nervous Systems, symmetry is found in the tension between rugged modernist structures and the fluid rhythms of the sea. The program culminates with the Brahms Clarinet Quintet, a masterwork that achieves a perfect geometric arc by folding its final echoes back into its very first breath.

This morning, artists from our "Symphonic Overtones" program visited Wyoming Valley West High School for a special side-by-side session. Our musicians played right alongside the string orchestra, followed by a performance of selections from our program.
We were impressed by the students' insightful questions and their genuine interest in the works we shared. It was a pleasure to see such an engaged group of young musicians in action!
