Increasingly my practice has become a container for navigating desire. I am taking more and more photos of men carrying flowers, as well as experimenting with new ways of expressing the meaning and importance of this phenomenon. I’m thinking about post-capitalist desire and questioning the sources and end points of personal and collective longing. I see that desire is constructed and that it can be reconstructed. I see that it has its roots in childhood magazines and is then fed and contorted and guided to its algorithmic destiny, by invisible malicious hands. And yet, I believe there is a game to be played, in which we make-believe that our desires are self made, rather than pushed upon us, and we can wear the costumes of our longing, and go out into the night and dance. I believe that is a game worth playing, and a dance worth dancing. xx @men.carrying.flowers
