A bold new look—and Refreshingly Honest Real Estate to match. Katie Forney is a born-and-raised Houstonian who traded finance for real estate—and brought that business-savvy mindset with her. She listens first, understands what matters most, and helps people make smart, thoughtful decisions about the homes they love. When we sat down to talk neighborhoods for this project, she suggested we do it over a cocktail tour instead. We said yes before she finished the sentence. Katie knows Houston's neighborhoods the way only a local would. Whether she's recommending her favorite patio bar or the city's best pepperoni pizza (her words, and she doesn’t even like pepperoni pizza)—working with Katie is like getting the inside scoop from your best friend. (1/3) We are so proud to share the new brand and website for Jay Baker Architects. 

For over forty years, @jaybakerarchitects has helped shape Houston’s built environment with precision, poise, and that signature Jay Baker wit—always designing with a deep respect for place and purpose. 

A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Jay has received national, regional, and local recognition for his contributions to the field. After earning his Master of Architecture from @riceuniversity he returned as a Visiting Critic in design and later as President of the Rice Design Alliance. 

In that role, he saw untapped potential in Houston’s historic @hermannpark — and turned vision into action. He led an international design competition that sparked a City Council-approved Master Plan. Today, as Past Chairman and Chair of the Projects Committee, he continues to volunteer his time and expertise—helping steward $200M in improvements to the park.

It was our honor to help carry Jay’s legacy forward—developing a logo, visual identity, and messaging system that reflect the clarity of his vision while creating space for future evolution and enduring momentum. 

As Jay says, “Once necessity is satisfied, architecture opens the door to something greater—moments of joy, delight, and wonder.”

That’s the foundation of @jaybakerarchitects — and the philosophy we carried into this brand refresh and website. The visual identity is grounded in Jay’s personal affinity for deep blues and rich blacks, resulting in a color palette that balances contrast and restraint. Like his architecture, the brand prioritizes balance over symmetry. We selected typefaces that feel intellectually precise and quietly familiar. The overall effect is one of clarity and clean modernism, with enough nuance to feel distinctive. Because when design is both fitting and transcendent, it doesn’t just hold space. It creates meaning.
