We have some news we'd like to share for those who don't yet know. Our son Jude has now been diagnosed with autism. It’s something we’ve known for ages, and now a Dr has made it official. What autism means for Jude and our family is lots of different things, many of which we’re still learning about. It means Jude looks at the world differently from typical kids. He has amazing focus and can build towers for hours. He's a master escape artist and will always find a way to get what he wants - even without words. He loves the water and is well on the way to teaching himself to swim. There's challenges for us, but they’re nothing compared to the ones he faces daily, and the pride we have in him for the way he bravely navigates a world that's not quite set up for him, that he can find confusing. We’re learning about the world of neurodiversity, and how best to advocate for our Jude, and make his life full of fun and adventures. So today on the eve of his 4th birthday we wanted to share this news with everyone, and to say how proud we are of our little boy, so smiley, cheeky and full of fun. Happy birthday Judey - our bouncing, climbing, mischievous, stone-throwing, shoe-hating, ice-lolly-loving little explorer! Xx
