Signing off now with my last post for the takeover. Thank you to the negativefeedback team for allowing me to showcase my work ✨ Hi everyone! My name is Kemka Ajoku (@kemkaajoku ) and I’m a 21 year-old photographer based between London and Lagos. My work centers around documenting black youth culture, primarily through fashion and portraiture. I’ll be presenting work from one of my personal projects, titled “My Brother’s Keeper”. This personal project focuses on the codependency of young black men, and the beauty of brotherhood present in the post-adolescent phase of one’s life, where one leaves the stage of family dependance to venture into a world of self-reliance. This project was shot in Lagos, Nigeria, with all models styled in Nigerian-owned clothing line @vrede919

Hi everyone, My name is Ashley Peña (@ashleyypenaa ) and I’m a 19 year old image maker currently based in Maryland. My work focuses on portraiture through documentation and storytelling, particularly on Blackness as it relates to power dynamics & identity. Over the next few days I will be sharing images from my ongoing series “Black Angel” which pays tribute to all of the fallen angels who have died and all of the angels who continue to fear for their lives because of the criminalization of their bodies. For me its about controlling back the narrative. To sharing truth and rewriting a history filled with erasure & misrepresentation.

Hi everyone! My name is Kennedi Carter ( @internetbby ), I am a 21 year old photographer based in Durham, North Carolina. Over the course of the next few days I'll be sharing a few images from my project Flex. "*The verb "to flex" essentially has one of two meanings. It can mean to show off, to gloat, or to boast, which is the most popular definition of the word; however, it can also mean to put on a fake front, to fake it, or force it. The second definition is usually used in conjunction with the first — as in, someone who's gloating about something that they've really got no right to gloat about, lying about an accomplishment, or exaggerating the truth." With this project I explore ideas of Blackness in relation to wealth, power, respect, and belonging. Ask yourself, who and what represents wealth? What is underneath wealth and power? And who is flexing?

Huge thanks to the negative feedback team for letting me take over the page for the past three days, and thank you for all the love and kind words about my work. This is my last post, tomorrow I will be passing the account to the incredible @internetbby “Hello everyone my name is @rahimfortune , I am a 26-year-old documentary photographer born and raised between Oklahoma and Texas. My work explores the nuances around culture, space and self-expression. This photo is from an ongoing series I started this year, that looks at the relationship between young black people and the Texas landscapes we grew up around. For me this is a way of regaining the power over our visual narrative within Texas history and a larger conversation around the American South. “ Evan Uhland TX • 2020 8 x 10 silver gelatin print from a 35mm negative
