Played mas in Trinidad for the first time with the band of the year (@losttribecarnival ) in the section of my dreeeeeams (designed by the incomparable @shandelleloregnard ). The day was SO special for so many reasons.
Tuesday was literally an alignment of the stars. Not only did it mark our transition into the lunar year of the fire horse, but it was also the day of the ring of fire eclipse (which just so happens to be the name of my section).🔥
I braved the rain in the morning to meet our band, crossed 3 stages, wined alongside people of all ages and creeds, ate shaved ice & popsicles to stave off the heat of the sun, rested my feet & and bumzi on every surface you can imagine, took pictures with people I don’t know but will never forget, & I did it all with one of my besties (@kdangerd ) right by my side. 🥹
Carnival means so much to me & this trip was a huge undertaking, but we did it!!!! 💙🧡💛

🇩🇪 • I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Germany on the day after graduation for an exchange program.
The program was nothing I could’ve mentally prepared for but somehow everything I needed. It’s hard to make plain the emotional complexities of the experience but if I had to sum it up in one word, I’d choose the word ‘gravitas’.
Traveling is a privilege — especially now — & I’m thankful for the things it reveals about connection, life, & “livity.”
Still recovering from the miles I walked & mental laps I ran. Still replaying the laughs & pregnant pauses. Still processing the things I learned about myself and the world.
Despite it all, I’m feeling grateful & inspired.
