Hipp hipp hurra! This Sunday it's the Norwegian national day! 🇳🇴 It's a big celebration throughout the whole country. Our national costume is called Bunad and the jewelry is called Søljer, usually big brooches, like the ones displayed on Platå.

Add some color to your table 🌈 Not just a tealight holder, Sirkel also works very well as a small serving bowl, for things like olives, dressing, nuts or salt.

💮 In ikebana, the arrangement of flowers is not just about creating a pleasing visual effect, but also about expressing a sense of balance, harmony, and the beauty of impermanence. Using the negative space to create a feeling of depth, movement and dynamism within the arrangement.

We really liked the idea of making a sculptural piece out of an object category where most of the existing examples are designed as promotional, plastic giveaways 💥💥

Rabarbra ⭐️ We don’t have a lot of experience working in glass. Glass has very specific properties of transparency, optics and color and also how the intensity of color changes with the thickness of the material. From a designer’s point of view the big challenge is how to understand the presence of the final object with no access to the actual material itself.

The core of Nedre Foss is the notion of the Century Product + what we refer to as Sculptural Utility or bruksskulptur as we’d say in Norwegian. By this we mean objects that will serve you for at least 100 years, and where the sculptural qualities on one side and the utility aspect on the other, are equal parts of the function.

Did you know that having flowers in your home reduces stress? Flowers trigger the release of neurotransmitters that are responsible for happiness and mental clarity. 🌼

«At the very end of the design process, we found similarities between Anker and 5000 year old stone vessels - very reassuring to us».

When is an object a sculpture and when is it not?
To us it is related to a certain evocative presence to the object – the ability to stir a reflection, a memory or even layers of memories, an object that could present itself to you in different ways. Sometimes it could be about context or even about something as simple as scale.
