Just wanted to post about how proud I am of my drag daughter @nayrulove_ and her accomplishments in Glitter Games III! I have such a deep respect for both by drag kids, Nayru and @max_hetero_ for their kindness, moral compasses and compassion, all of which I know Nayru took with her into this competition, and I’m overjoyed that she was also able to platform her creativity and originality every week. I’m also honoured to have been able to help collaborate with her in almost all her runway looks (except for her self-made look and the finale gown by the wonderful @tweedy_couture ). Dedicated photoshoots for each look are in the works, but I couldn’t help myself lol I’m a proud dad Nayru Love you x

An interview with @eliza_l_beecroft the founder of @nectar__studios • How did Nectar Studios begin, and what inspired you to create the platform in the first place? I started directing and styling photoshoots and I wanted to have a name to act as an umbrella term for any styling, costuming, creative direction and event management I did, so I could just use my real name for modelling. • What is the core mission of Nectar Studios, and how would you describe this initiative in your own words? The core mission, aside from being a creative outlet for me, is to show fashion in both commercial and more artistic forms that decenters the status quo. I want Nectar studios to be synonymous with diversity and sustainability, partnering with models of all kinds and independent, smaller business that focus on slow fashion or recycling. • In what ways do you see the studio as a space for community-building, not just creativity and how do ideas of belonging, representation, or cultural identity influence the work Nectar Studios produces? I’m so proud of the projects that have started with a conversation at a show, and I think that cultivating a feeling of safety and comfort at the show is a catalyst for these conversations. I often prioritise working with people I know or people who have had trusted friends vouch for them to make the atmosphere safe and comfortable for everyone involved, and I at least try to lead the events with an ‘we’re all in this together’ kind of attitude. I think that’s what makes it a community. I want my shows and my shoots to be an opportunity to meet people you can relate to and help them or be helped by them to create something together, while proudly showing who you are as an individual. I also just truly love displaying different cultures and subcultures to a wider audience because I think it bring a diversity of perspectives to the overall creative output that you just don’t get when everyone looks and thinks the same way. I know I proudly show the things that make me the person I am, and I want the people I work with to feel safe to do the same.

𝓑𝓐𝓛𝓛 The core inspiration for the upcoming GATECRASH fashion show (ticket link in bio) is a video I saw one night in a YouTube documentary rabbit hole. An Australian news broadcast about ‘Lord Eddie’ and the Gatecrasher Balls featured a clip of two girls (likely around 19) professing their admiration for the balls, say it’s a good idea for people of the same class to get together and that they wouldn’t be happy if people from the lower classes were there as they giggle and dance to ‘Get Into the Groove’. Inspiration struck. The balls were a money-making opportunity for Lord Eddie, who would hold parties (usually in a marquee) n his fathers estate for the children of the aristocracy burgeoning on adulthood, for them to behave as any young heirs or heiresses would, free from the prying eyes of commoners. It was the starting point of my idea to create this show, criticising the upper classes, the systems that ensure they stay privileged, much of which I saw firsthand in my own upbringing. Here, I’ve recreated a scene from a Gatecrasher ball, and have created a show around the idea of gatecrashing the spaces reserved for aristocratic, rich, white cishet, able bodied and neurotypical people with an entire cast that would, in the words of the inspirations for this shoot, ‘feel a bit out of it’. Model: @lauralovemore @eliza_l_beecroft Designer: @hkm_artwork Videographer: @bumpa_dumpa Photographer: @faunaphoto_ CD: @nectar__studios #leithevents #iloveleith #edinburghmodels #edinburghstylist #scottishstylist
