Fat+Smoke Tanned Raccoon Class is on the books!!
Come tan (roadkill) raccoon hides with me! I collect a BUNCH of these roadside attraction buddies and I want to tan them with YOU!
We will be tanning these furs using the fat/smoke tanning method (frequently known as "brain tanning") by softening hides with emulsified fats and completing the tanning process with woodsmoke, plus a bunch of other fun steps to make salvaged hides into soft, supple, washable textiles!
Class comprises 4 full days of work (10-5ish)

Possum pouches are coming to @marketofthebeast !!!
These buddies were roadkilled opossums that I liberated from becoming road carpet. (sorry, gross and sad) I gathered, skinned, tanned, and crocheted them myself. Second life! 🐾
These fuzzy cuties are bark tanned with chestnut extract to become a washable, durable leather! Crocheted with wool yarns, and with bone button clasps, they are also belt pouches made with bark tanned rabbit leather loops (also all me!)
You can find them and me and a wholeass slew of amazing craftsfolk at Market of the Beast on 5/17 at The Redd on Salmon! I can't wait to show you all the stuff I've bern making!

I have spent so many hours over the years collecting roadkilled raccoons. It gnarly business sometimes but I just can't not salvage a beautiful fur if I have the opportunity. I skin em, stretch, em, store them, and now we can tan them together!
Join me for a 4 class hide tanning session where we will turn roadkilled rawhide into a soft, luxurious fur for you to keep. Learn the process to tan your own furs! We do it together, it's more fun that way. ✨️🦝✨️
