recreating our favorite @americanlibraryassociation “celebrity read” posters with our very own NECC celebs (library staff) (& Suzanne)🤩
All jokes aside, we are celebrating National Library Week on campus, a time to celebrate the amazing resource and space that public libraries are and the roles librarians play in strengthening our communities.
We are so grateful for @necc_library 💫

Alert, alert: new summer schedule just dropped! Both libraries on the Lawrence and Haverhill campuses will be open 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday, until the first day of classes in the fall (Wednesday, September 2). Please also note that the libraries will be closed (along with the rest of the college) on the following days:
Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day
Friday, June 19 for Juneteenth
Friday, July 3 for Independence Day
Monday, September 7 for Labor Day
Come say hi even if you don't have in-person classes; the librarians will be here all summer and would love to see you and hear how things are going! Also of course we are always available to help out with those research assignments for your summer classes. #HAGS #HaveAGreatSummer
Thank you to everyone who made our last library events of the semester a huge success! We had so much fun swapping books last week and discussing The Song of Achilles this week. If you are interested in bookish events this summer, follow us and check out the college events webpage (www.NECC.edu/events) to stay up to date! #HappyReading #NECCreads
Happy May 1st! We asked students to share what they are looking forward to this spring on our whiteboard. We are all looking forward to NECC Graduation, more sunshine, hiking, gardening, and warmer days this month. 🌼🎓😎
Ok, the person who told us this was Albert Einstein. Also, say hi to Rob! Rob is our new library assistant, and he’ll be in the Lawrence library on weekday mornings through the end of June. Happy National Library Week! Do you know where the library is…?
April is your last chance to enter the Knight’s Gauntlet reading challenge! But obviously it’s finals so we wanted to make it easy. Since it’s #NationalPoetryMonth you can read a poem, or an essay or short story; whatever you want! Then enter to win at the link in our bio. See a librarian (or comment or DM us) if you want a recommendation or help finding a good one. Everyone who fills out the form is entered to win an NECC swag bag, perfect for finals! Happy reading ^_^
Also if you see our magnetic poetry boards around campus, write one! You could be featured in our poetry zine 😉📝🧑💻📑
Question: what do I do if I can’t make it into the library but I have a question or I need help? Or what about if the library is closed?
Answer: visit the NECC library webpage! There are so many resources available as long as you know where to look—and now you know, because we’re showing you.
Take a virtual visit and let us know: what is the coolest resource you didn’t know about before?
P.s. sorry the closed captioning cuts out partway through! We could not get them to work, but you may turn on the automated ones if you want them.
The libraries and tutoring center are hosting a study crawl on both campuses! This crawl will help you...
🧠 fuel up and focus for finals
🕵️ discover new places on campus to study
🤝 meet other students
🍿 take a much-needed, refreshing study break!
📍We'll meet in Haverhill on Tuesday, April 28 at 12:00 in the Commons (C201 in the Spurk Building), then crawl to the library and then to the lecture hall for some fun animated short films.
📍 In Lawrence, we'll start on Wednesday, April 29 at 12:00 in the Tutoring Center (L202 in Dimitry) before crawling down the library in L007 and finishing in L244 for a movie break. We'll have food and snacks at each location!
This is a great way to get some quality cramming time in with your fellow NECC students (ever heard of body doubling?), combined with getting to know your way around campus, invigorating walks to get the blood flowing between study sessions, and lots of brain food.
We hope to see you there, if you can make it for some of it or the whole thing! RSVP at the link in our bio.
