Happy Birthday to McKenna!! 26 years ago, McKenna made Sarah and me parents and she's just been a blessing and joy ever since. We love you KB!! It's always a great week to celebrate both my girls who have birthdays just five days apart!
Game 7 tonight in Oklahoma City! Nine years ago in the last Finals Game 7, Kyrie Irving hit one of the biggest shots in NBA history. I had quite the view of it. Looking forward to seeing who makes the big plays tonight. Enjoy the game!
For 22 years my best buddy is always by my side. Happy Birthday, Ryan!! Every year is better than the last! Have a terrific day and can't wait to see you in a little over a week!
I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the parents, coaches, board members and most importantly the girls from the Stamford Youngtimers Basketball League for their incredibly kind reception at yesterday’s Super Sunday celebration. I will be stepping down as the organization president after 17 years in the program (13 years in this role) and the group’s sendoff was so heartwarming and meaningful. Frankly, it made me want to stay :). But I really know this is the right time as hard as it is.
It has truly been a pleasure and a privilege to work with these kids over that time. The smiles, the competitiveness, the love for the game .. it was there every single time I stepped into a gym with them. In some ways, it was like having more kids of my own because of the bonds that were created and the incredible pride I felt every time I saw one of these kids improve. Too many amazing memories to share here but I promise they will live in my mind forever.
Thanks to everyone who has touched the program during my time and for all the parents for agreeing to trust us with your kids. We were truly the lucky ones. I also appreciate the commitment my family had to the league (as players, coaches, scorers, merchandise queen 😀) and their support and acceptance of the time I needed to do it right. I can't wait to watch the program continue to grow and see the stars that come out of it. There will be many! I’ll always be rooting for our Stamford girls.
What a run by Notre Dame in the first-ever 12-team playoff. While the ending last night was disappointing, it was so fun to watch this group over the longest season in ND history. After the NIU loss, this team was left for dead and then it endured so many season-ending injuries to key players, but they just kept showing up and improving. The Irish ultimately ended the major bowl losing streak (31 years!) by winning two in one season and then almost rallied from 24 down against a truly great team in the championship game. Hopefully this is the start of a resurgence and if it is, we’ll always look back at names like Watts, Kiser, Leonard, Mills, Cross, Morrison who put ND back on the map. For us, it was such a fun four+ months. Ryan went to all 16 games, Kylie and I got to 11, Sarah went to eight and McKenna even saw six in-person. Excited for literally everything Marcus Freeman brings to the program and hoping for big things in the future! Go Irish!☘️☘️☘️🏈🏈🏈
What an incredible game! I still can't believe what we watched. Both teams played their butts off. Memorable night for my whole crew. Such a fantastic season but one more to go!!!! Go Irish!!! ☘️☘️☘️
It’s been 17 years since Penn State and Notre Dame played in college football. But from 1981 to 1992 as I was growing up, the teams played every year and it became such a huge family event for the four years I was in college. Penn State visited ND my sophomore and senior years and the Frank Family came en masse to South Bend. And those who know my family know what that means! Such incredible memories that became bigger than life.
I often felt like the only person in the world who loved both ND and PSU. My parents came along — eventually — but the rivalry has remained strong, at least in our family since those amazing days, even though the schools have only played twice since 1992.
Of course the game is a bit bittersweet as the three amigos — my dad, Uncle Tom and Uncle Bill — won’t be there to enjoy it. And of course, my mom passed away less than a year after that memorable 1992 game when she sat near me in the press box because my boss (Thanks Heis!) was kind enough to let her sit there knowing of her medical condition.
Yes, the game is special, not just because it’s the National Semifinal, but for what this game has represented for all of our family over almost 50 years. I will certainly be rooting for the Irish but the good part is no matter who wins, I’ll have one of my favorite teams to root for in the Championship Game!
Go Irish! ☘️ ☘️ ☘️
What a night in New Orleans! It's been 31 years since Notre Dame won a major bowl game so this was the biggest victory for the Irish in some time. Georgia has so many great players that it's just exhilarating that ND won. Ryan and I had a blast with so many of his friends and of course the legend Ed Keener :). Haven't processed yet that Penn State is next. My two favorite teams in Miami. Unreal.
