Vicki asks, "How do you add an additional comorbidity/disability to your NDIS plan?"
Good question, Vicki. If something new has popped up and it’s changing how you get through the day, you don’t have to wait for your next plan reassessment.
Here’s how to keep your plan charging in the right direction:
Firstly, let the NDIA know what’s changed, this is called a "Change of Circumstances".
You can:
-Fill out the form on the NDIS website (search for 'change of circumstance')
-Call 1800 800 110
-Email [email protected]
-Or pop into your local NDIS office
Next, gather your evidence. The NDIA will need reports from your health professionals that show:
-Your new diagnosis or condition
-That it’s permanent (or likely to be)
-How it affects your daily life
-What treatments you’ve tried
You might also want to think about your plan goals. If things have changed in your life, update what matters most to you - this helps the NDIA understand what supports will keep you stomping forward.
The NDIA will look at your request. If it’s a small tweak, such as an update to diagnosis but no change in the support you need, they might vary your current plan. If it’s a big change, like more or different supports needed, they’ll likely reassess and create a new plan.
