Congratulations to the CEEES Department's very own Martin Soros, who has been named the Valedictorian for the Notre Dame Class of 2026!
From designing pedestrian bridges in Bolivia with NDSEED to co-creating St. Olaf’s Ice Chapel on North Quad, Martin embodies the heart of a Notre Dame engineer. With a deep commitment to service at La Nazarena in Argentina, he is a shining example of using technical skills to engineer a better world for all.
We are so proud to see a Civil Engineer leading the way at this year's commencement!
Always ask the hard questions when you have the opportunity to talk to a @nasa scientist…
Thank you for visiting your alma mater, Kelsey! We loved having you back on campus ☘️
Kelsey Young graduated with a @nd_ceees degree in 2009. She came back to campus this week to share her experience as the #ArtemisII Lunar Science Lead and @nasaartemis Science Flight Operations lead.

Last Monday, 2000 Notre Dame students gathered for Mass at Saint Olaf’s, the newest chapel at Notre Dame located on North Quad. One of the co-creators, Martin Soros, is a senior Civil Engineering student!
Martin was able to use some of the knowledge he has gained in his civil engineering classes to help design and build the chapel. His knowledge of statics helped him build the arches to support the structure, and his Civil Engineering Materials course helped him create an ice mixture to be used as a building material.
Martin is also involved with NDSEED (@ndseed_notredame ) where he spent time in Bolivia over the summer building a suspended footbridge. These two projects have allowed Martin to use his civil engineering knowledge beyond the classroom.
