Problem gambling affects people in many ways. It doesn’t just happen at casinos but can creep up through online gaming and even watching esports 🎮. Recognising these signs can help you know when it's time to have a talk with someone you care about: • Spending way more money than they planned to 💸 • Constantly trying to win back what they lost, thinking one big win will fix everything 🎰 • Skipping school or plans with friends just to gamble 📅❌ • Feeling irritable, anxious, or restless when they can’t gamble 😤 If you notice these behaviours in someone close to you, it may be time to reach out 💭. Starting a conversation about gambling can feel difficult. But approaching someone with compassion and understanding is often the first step toward helping them recognise that gambling is #NotJustABadHabit 💙. Your caring words could be the encouragement they need to seek help ✨. If you know someone you care about is struggling, help is available at https://go.gov.sg/addiction-support 🤝 Source: NCPG, WE CARE Community Services #NCSS #SocialServiceSG #BehaviouralAddictions #GamblingAddiction

At NCSS, we lead the social service sector by strengthening social service agencies and raising funds with the community, to help individuals and families in need. And we are constantly asking ourselves: how do we make sure that help reaches those who need it most, at the right time and in the right way? Building a social service sector that truly serves people takes deliberate effort, honest conversations, and a commitment to keep improving. This is why our Senior Management Team recently came together for a retreat to reflect, realign, and plan ahead. From harnessing technology to growing capabilities and strengthening community support, philanthropy, and volunteerism – we are committed to working towards a more caring and inclusive Singapore. Because after all, #ItTakesATribe to make lives count! 💙 #NCSS #SocialServiceSG #BetterStartsWithUs #SocialImpact SocialGood

Building a strong social service sector starts with attracting the right talent and developing capabilities at every stage of the professional journey. Through the Professional Capability Grant (PCG), NCSS supports social service agencies (SSAs) in strengthening their workforce. This includes attracting students and helping mid-careerists transition into social service roles. When SSAs have skilled, resilient teams, they are better equipped to meet evolving community needs and deliver quality support to those who need it most. That is how we build a future-ready social service sector, together. Because after all, #ItTakesATribe to make lives count! From April 2026, the PCG has been enhanced to offer even greater support. NCSS at IFASS Conference: From measuring impact to strengthening trust At the International Forum of Accounting Standard Setters (IFASS) Conference held in Melbourne on 29th April, NCSS shared perspectives on how stronger community investment/ social impact reporting can support more decision useful sustainability disclosures within an evolving global reporting landscape. As investor expectations rise, social impact can no longer sit at the margins. Businesses need clearer frameworks to assess, measure, and report how community investment/ social impact creates long-term value, while strengthening alignment with broader sustainability reporting standards and stakeholder expectations. The Sustainable Philanthropy Framework and Social Impact Metrics define the strategic “why” and “how,” while the Guidelines provide practical structure across materiality, metrics, and reporting practices. Better measurement drives better decisions, therefore improving accountability, strengthening trust, and directing resources where they create the greatest impact for communities and business alike. As social service needs evolve, the skills and capabilities required to support service users must follow suit. The Professional Capability Grant (PCG) supports social service agencies (SSAs) in building a skilled and resilient workforce, reinforcing sustainable career pathways, and enabling agencies to better meet community needs. Because when social service professionals have the right training and support, they can make an even bigger difference in the communities they serve — and that is what building a future-ready, sustainable, and "We First" society looks like in action. From April 2026, the PCG has been enhanced to offer even greater support across the professional journey: ✅ Broader qualification support through expanded Social Service Tribe Study Awards, now covering ITE Higher Nitec in Community Care, Diploma in Social Work, and Honours in Psychology. ✅ Professional development funding with 100% tuition support and no cap for in-service staff pursuing professional qualifications. ✅ Enhanced leadership pipeline development offering 90% funding with no cap for professionals stepping into people management roles. NCSS Day 2026 did not disappoint! 🌟 Our #OneNCSS family came together to celebrate how far we have come, and to dream big about what comes next. Our CEO, Mr Lim Shung Yar, shared his vision for an NCSS that goes further, using AI and technology to strengthen Singapore's social service sector and build a caring and inclusive We-First society for all. 💡 A big part of this is mapping out our next steps. NCSS President Ms Anita Fam shared a timely reminder that every transformation we have been through has made us stronger and more effective in serving the community. Change is not something to fear. It is how we grow. 💪 Beyond the key conversations, the day was packed with even more highlights. We got to hear from experts across the government, social service, and private sectors on how AI and technology are already shaking up social service work in the best way. And we ended on the highest note, cheering on our colleagues at our annual promotion and long service award ceremony. You all deserve it! 🎉 A We-First society starts with people who care. Could that be you? 👀 Link in bio to explore careers at NCSS! #NCSS #SocialServiceSG #ThrivingTogether #MeaningfulCareers CommunityImpact

What does it take to build a stronger social service sector? It starts with listening. 👂 Last month, NCSS and @msfcares brought together close to 100 social service professionals from 50 social service agencies for a heartfelt and forward-looking conversation about the future of social service in Singapore. Minister @desmond.lee reminded us of the very real challenges ahead. From geopolitical tensions and AI disruption to Singapore’s ageing population, vulnerable families are facing growing pressures that call for stronger partnerships between the Government and the social service sector. Minister of State @goh.pei.ming echoed this, sharing that the people working on the ground every day hold some of the most valuable insights for shaping better policies and services. The conversations that followed were honest, passionate, and richly insightful. Professionals shared how the sector can work better together, from strengthening data sharing and deepening health-social integration, to harnessing AI and technology to better support those in need. A powerful reminder of the collective heart and innovation that drives our social service community. At NCSS, we are committed to building a future-ready social service sector. We will continue to work closely with social service agencies, community partners, and government agencies to serve individuals and families in need. Because after all, #ItTakesATribe to make lives count! 💙 #NCSS #SocialServiceTribe #SocialServiceSG #BetterStartsWithUs
