Most people drive past this Palos Verdes landmark with no idea what it used to be. 👀
Before it became @ncpve , this was one of the most extravagant oceanfront mansions in Southern California, built in 1928 by LA fashion mogul John Joseph Haggarty (yep, the surf spot Haggerty’s is named after him).
He built a 15,000 sq ft with 32 rooms, imported Italian furnishings, a pool, a massive seawall and a private pier so materials could be delivered by boat. It cost $750,000 in 1928 (tens of millions today).
Then the Great Depression hit. The mansion sold and sat empty. Rumors grew that it was haunted. In 1951, a growing congregation bought it for $60,000 and transformed it into what you see today.

Salastina | Main Series No. 4: Beethoven and Schubert
Before the concert hall, there was the salon. Before the grand piano, the fortepiano. Salastina invites listeners into the intimate sound world of Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert as it might have been heard in their own time: performed on warm gut strings with responsive transitional bows and the round sonority of a fortepiano.
The program features Beethoven’s radiant “Spring” Sonata for Violin and Piano in F Major, his Sonata for Cello and Piano in A Major, and Schubert’s expansive Piano Trio in B-flat Major. Each performance concludes with a complimentary wine reception, offering audiences the chance to mingle with the artists.
