In 2021, NCC stepped into the world of co-productions with the Indigenous mockumentary Hey Viktor! The film was directed by Cody Lightning (@lightning.cody ) and produced by Sara Corry (@s_corr ) and Kyle Thomas (@cal9000 ) (of NCC). Hey Viktor! screened at festivals around the world including TIFF and Tribecca in 2023. NCC’s second co-pro venture, Smudge The Blades, is currently in post-production and slated for release in 2026. @smudgethebladesmovie We’ve made some dear friends along the way thus far and are eager to partner with like-minded artists whose values on collaboration and storytelling align with NCC’s. 🎥➡️2️⃣0️⃣ #NCC20 #independentfilm #canadianfilm smudgetheblades

We’ve had the pleasure of getting to know actor Joe Perry over the past 12 years as he brought his remarkable, nuanced presence to the big screen in all three of our feature films (The Valley Below, O Brazen Age, Range Roads), weaving seamlessly into the NCC fabric. What began as a working collaboration quickly blossomed into a long-standing friendship.  While currently part of the 25/26 Birmingham Conservatory at the Stratford Festival, we eagerly anticipate his return to the big screen. joewperry.com Thank you Joe for your contribution to NCC over the years! #NCC20 🎥2️⃣0️⃣ #independentfilm #canadianfilm

I had the chance to sit down with Alexander (Sandy) Carson to talk about Alberta Number One, and it quickly became clear that he is most comfortable marching to the beat of his own drum. His passion for art and film is obvious, but so is his lack of interest in making something the way you are taught in film school; instead, he is willing to push against traditional beats and shape a film that feels wholly its own. The result is an Alberta-shot feature from Calgary-based North Country Cinema that folds road movie, essay film, and ensemble drama into a meta-textual portrait of the province. Already on a mini-Canadian theatrical tour, the film is currently rolling through Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton. For you Alberta folks, specifically, be sure to get your tickets to see this one at the @theplazayyc and @themetrocinema --- full interview on pointsofreview.com --- Adam Manery: I know this is a hard one to boil down, but what is Alberta Number One about? What’s your elevator pitch for the film? Alexander (Sandy) Carson: I’m not too good at elevator pitches, so bear with me. It’s a fiction film about a documentary process. There is a bit of hybridity, because sometimes we dip into “the film within the film”, like when filming at the Museum of Miniatures or the Creation Science Museum, but it’s mostly a behind-the-scenes look at a documentary process. It’s not so much a film about the museums and public sites themselves as it is an autoethnographic work, meaning that they’re including themselves in the study of the experience of museums and public sites... --- full interview on pointsofreview.com --- @gametheoryfilms @nccinema @studiookita @penderpr @telefilm_canada @canada.council @david_ehrenreich @west.brodie @inkexplodez @participatoryuniverse @bebe_buckskin @newkungfuiggy @randallokita @kris.demeanor #albertanumberone #canadianfilmmaker #yyc #yeg
