This day-long conference serves as a statewide professional development opportunity for dance, music, theatre, and visual arts educators, district arts education leaders, teaching artists, arts integration specialists, and pre-service teachers from across North Carolina working in K-12 programs, independent studios, performing arts organizations, and higher education institutions.
The mission of this conference is to support the three essential components of the North Carolina Comprehensive Arts Education Model: Arts Education, Arts Integration, and Arts Exposure. Sessions will be centered on the four K-12 Arts Education Standards core strands of Connect, Create, Present, and Respond and aid to reinforce the 2024 standard course of study.
This event is proudly supported by the North Carolina Music Educators Association. All conference participants will receive a boxed lunch and a NC CAEC tee shirt with registration. Tune in today at 11:30 for the last of our Arts in Our Schools Month performances! Today we will host the Southern Lee High School Marching Band on the Halifax Mall Lawn. /ncpublicschools
The Southern Lee High School band has been highly competitive since the school opened in 2005. In the past year, the Southern Lee High School Band program has competed in several band competitions. The band consistently won first and second place in their division, earning over 35 trophies for the season. The band performed in three parades as well as various community performances. In addition, the band performed at the NCAEOP conference in Winston-Salem. Select students attended UNC-Pembroke and UNC-Greensboro's Honor Bands as well as the All-District Band. Several students performed in the District Solo and Ensemble Performance Assessment and received both Excellent and Superior ratings. The band went to the Music Performance Assessment at Scotland High School and achieved an Excellent Rating. They finished the season at Carowinds' Music in the Park and received all Superior Ratings from the judges.
Don't forget to tune in this morning at 11:30 to hear the G.W. Carver A+ Elementary Choir perform at NCDPI in celebration of Arts in Our Schools Month!

Be sure to tune in to the /ncpublicschools channel tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24th at 11:30 for another Arts in Our Schools Month performance! Next on the lineup is the GW Carver A+ Elementary Choir out of Kannapolis City Scholls. The GWC Choir is an after school choral program which meets weekly. In recent years, they have performed at NCDPI, Carowinds Festival of Music, Cabarrus Arts Council's Breakfast for the Arts, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers baseball club, and various local events.
Don't forget to tune in at 11:30 this morning to hear Colla Voce from Holly Springs High School perform at the NC Capitol Rotunda in celebration of Arts in Our Schools Month!
