🚨 𝙐𝙋𝘿𝘼𝙏𝙀: Dolphins Women’s Basketball Club on Saturday, 20 September 2025, emerged champions of the 2025 Zenith Bank Nigerian Women’s Basketball League after defeating First Bank 61–55 in a thrilling final at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Backed by the leadership of former D’Tigers captain Olumide Oyedeji as President, the youthful Dolphins displayed resilience and quality to edge out the experienced First Bank side and lift the prestigious title. Their triumph also came with the trophy and a ₦7.5 million cash prize.
The Final 8 stage had tipped off on 16 September 2025, featuring MFM, First Bank, Bayelsa Blue Whales, Dolphins (Atlantic Conference) and Air Warriors, Royal Aces, Titans, Nigeria Customs (Savannah Conference), all of whom gave fans an exciting showcase of women’s basketball.
The historic final was graced by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Engr. Musa Ahmadu Kida, and the Group Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank, Dame Adaora Umeoji.
The National Sports Commission congratulates the champions Dolphins, the runners-up First Bank, all participating teams, and the Nigeria Basketball Federation for a successful tournament. The Commission remains committed to supporting basketball and every other sport, while providing the enablers for them to thrive under the RHINSE initiative for a renewed Nigerian sports economy.
