Welcome home @cvn78_grford , @ussbainbridge , @ussmahanddg72 ! After a historic 11-month deployment across four different areas of operation, our Sailors have returned to Naval Station Norfolk. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman, shared their deep pride and gratitude for the brave crew members whose hard work kept our nation safe. We honor their incredible sacrifice and celebrate their long-awaited reunion with their families.

Recently I visited the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, D.C., with my wife Angie, our Navy Ombudsman-at-Large. Spending time with the residents and touring the facility was a reminder that our commitment to Sailors doesn’t end when they hang up the uniform. Taking care of our people is a lifelong responsibility, and that continuity of care matters at every stage of service.

To all Navy spouses, and especially my wife Angie, thank you. You serve this country in ways that often go unseen, and that’s not just support, it’s essential to our warfighting readiness. Today, we recognize the strength you provide at home that allows us to stay focused on the mission. For everything you do, we are grateful.

Spent some time with Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Mobile Unit TWELVE at @navstanewportri recently and came away impressed by their level of technical mastery. These Sailors handle some incredibly demanding work. They locate, identify, and neutralize explosive threats in any environment. Whether it’s IEDs, mines, or unexploded ordnance, there’s no margin for error. That level of responsibility requires full knowledge of their equipment, their procedures, and each other. What stood out was the ownership and discipline across the team. Grateful for the chance to connect with them firsthand and see it up close. This community sets the bar.

I appreciated the chance to speak with senior leaders at the Navy Executive Development Program (NFLEX) to talk through my priorities, how we lead, and how we make the most of our teams across the Fleet. The conversation and questions were a great reminder that strong leadership comes down to clear communication, accountability, and trusting our Sailors to deliver.

Month of the Military Child is a time for us to recognize our Navy families' children. We know this life isn't easy, but you're part of this Navy team too. Every time you show up, you support your Sailor, and you support our Navy. That matters. To ALL our military kids, we see you, and we appreciate you.

Last Friday, the Naval History and Heritage Command had the honor of welcoming @navymcpon for a tour of our facilities. From maintaining historic artifacts to sharing the Navy’s story with future generations, it was a great opportunity to showcase the work our team does every day to preserve our heritage. Take a look at a few highlights from the visit! #USNavy #NavyHistory #MCPON

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman attended the DC Area Submarine Association Submarine Ball on April 25, 2026, to recognize the extraordinary Sailors, families, and civilians who strengthen our undersea force every day. “For 126 years, submariners have given our nation a powerful advantage, one that protects our security, strengthens deterrence, and helps preserve peace. And if history is any guide, the submarine force will continue doing exactly what it has always done: Operating quietly, staying ready, and being exactly where the Nation needs you, even when no one else knows you’re there.” Your professionalism, resilience, and commitment remain vital to our Navy and our nation. Thank you for carrying forward the proud legacy of the Silent Service and for all you do in defense of our country.

Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Carlos Ruiz & Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman stood tall as our guests of honor representing all Enlisted Marines and Sailors who anchor the foundation of our Naval Service. 🦅⚓️🇺🇸 For the first time, our Brigade stepped onto Worden Field in honor of all Enlisted Warriors we fight alongside; a disciplined display of precision, tradition, and professionalism that defines the Naval Academy. We were joined by CAPT Austin Jackson, Commandant of Midshipmen; Command Master Chief Michael Carbone; and Sergeant Major Sean Grantham. 🦅⚓️ On Worden Field, there are no small details, only strict standards. Every movement is exact. Every formation is tight. Discipline under pressure, built through repetition, accountability, and pride in the profession of arms. The Brigade looked Sharp as we honored our Enlisted Force ⚓️🇺🇸

This week I was able to spend time with the newest classes at @nlecnewport , including the Command Leadership Course, Command Spouse Leadership course and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course, along with a great discussion with the staff and instructors at the Senior Enlisted Academy. We talked about what it means to lead at the next level by investing in our people, building strong and connected teams, and continuing to develop the technical expertise our Navy relies on. These leaders are preparing to head back to the fleet, and the work being done here plays a direct role in how we develop, support, and manage our Sailors. Grateful for the transparent conversations and the commitment to leading with excellence across the fleet.
