Spring Flowers on this chilly, bright, January day
I awoke to find a disgruntled Blackbird on the patio, the cause of which a bowl of mealy worms that had completely frozen over! All resolved with a kettle of hot water and he and his feathered friends are now busy getting on with their day.
I’m awaiting delivery of a certain magazine which I hope will be here soon ( woohoo!) and a consignment of bottles which are due anytime now, In the meantime I’m busy applying for events and putting paperwork in order before I return to the workshop
Have a lovely, frosty, Friday 💙
Rounding up the last weekend of the Winter Break with this lovely feature in Country Living Magazine.
I hinted in my last post that I was awaiting the arrival of a certain magazine, and am absolutely delighted to see my Hand Painted Snowdrop and Privet Leaf Stems so beautifully placed in the Nurture with Nature feature. I’m a subscriber to this gorgeous lifestyle magazine and love leafing through my copy over the month, often admiring the work of the many other talented makers and producers which are championed in its pages, it’s fantastic to be included in such good company!
I’ve also had a very proud Mum on the phone from Yorkshire after picking up her copy from the village store - she has been such a help and support over the years, and with a background in retail she is always full of bright ideas for my stand and display (my lovely Mum opened the first delicatessen in our home town long before the supermarkets introduced them!). This is for her to celebrate too 🥰💫💗
I’ve had a steady flurry of messages and tags over the weekend - thank you for joining in and sharing my good news, and for your orders too - I really appreciate each and every one of them

Nine squares chosen by me because I like what they represent! Without too much self indulgent twaddle - I am just increasingly grateful for the life I have. To be able to be a creative female, with access to the tools I use in a lovely workshop, surrounded by kind and lovely people (of which I include you all!) and being healthy and free to spend time outdoors and exploring beautiful gardens
I wish all good things for everyone next year, and a whole lot more respect and care of the incredible planet we call home and the creatures that dwell here with quieter voices
Spending my last day of the year putting the remaining Christmas stock to bed, and an eve in Bristol to see it out in comfort with a few close friends, sending love to you all - Maggie x

I’ve been head down on my machines all week and finally surfaced this morning to join @thesomersetcollective over in sunny Bruton .. I took a few quick pics as we were setting up and we have had a steady stream of visitors who have already found us at this lovely venue. We are here until 4 pm today and tomorrow, with delicious fresh coffee and food served throughout the day with our friendly hosts @atthechapel ☕️
We are blessed with sunshine on our celebrated county day. I’m very grateful to live and work in this gorgeous corner of the world and wish you all a wonderful week ahead wherever you are based on this sunny Somerset Day

Good morning folks
It’s time for the annual pic of me and my trusty paintbrushes and what perfect timing to be able to share with you today that I am now a fully fledged member of the Country Living Artisan Community @clartisans
A great big thank you to Luwana and all the team @countrylivinguk for the very warm welcome. Regular followers will have seen my Hand Painted Stems featured in various issues of CL over the past few years. It is always such a thrill to see them in print and has made a huge impact on my business and has really helped to broaden my reach introducing my work to a new like minded audience
It has been wonderful too to have the CL affiliation displayed on my stand as I travel around the fairs and live events as so many visitors recognise this much loved and trusted publication, often providing the perfect prompt for a friendly conversation
If you are a new follower here - thank you for finding me, you are most welcome here and I hope you enjoy my occasional posts about my work and the many fantastic shows I attend. A very brief resume - I am a designer maker hailing from God’s Own Country - Yorkshire but now based in beautiful Somerset UK where I produce my range of Hand Painted Flowers, Paper Cut Cards, and Seasonal Decorations (all made with natural, sustainable materials, and eco friendly paint finishes). Following recent eye surgery which has really slowed me down I am also currently teaching myself watercolour with a view to steadily taking my work in a slightly different ( less tech intensive!) direction. I’m excited to see where this new expression meanders …
In the meantime you can find out more about my current range and where to find me over the coming months over on my website:

Thanks so much to all of you for your continued kind words and warm support - Maggie 🌸

Sumer is icumin in louda sing cookou!
Sweet Beltane, the merry month of May has arrived. I adore green and glorious May and have been up to wash my chops in the morning dew and about to pack my car with beautiful things to bring to The Cuckoo Fair. I made a small batch of Cuckoo cards in honour of my invitation and to celebrate the medieval song which I was enjoying whilst putting the cards together yesterday
I have popped a few online too should you require some playful Cuckoo energy for your home. If you are at the fair please come along and say hello to me ( in the purple marquee) and I’ll have some at the Magpie Market on Sunday too. Have a beautiful Beltane and Spring Bank Hol one and all 🌸🎶🐝💚🌳
Looking ahead - I really love this carefully hand drawn poster, full of joie de vivre, and I’m really looking forward to heading across to Downton ( not the abbey!) in neighbouring Wiltshire to join this year’s Cuckoo Fair. I was chuffed to bits to receive an invitation and have been busy prepping in readiness for the show which takes place this coming Saturday. I will be located in the Purple Tent.
On Sunday you can find me in my usual space at the Magpie Market in Frome’s fabulous Cheese & Grain Bar. On Bank Holiday Monday - I am having a day off! Celebrating the arrival of May, one of my favourite months, with a belated Beltane walk in our beautiful Somerset countryside 💚
Pale pink Tulips for a Friday morning. I’m adding these soft and creamy blooms to my collection of Flower Drops which continue to be one of my most popular lines. I introduced Opera pink to my palette last Summer, it blends beautifully with the chalky white and a little red; the leaf is finished in one of my all time favourite paints - Tapestry Green. I will be listing them after the weekend when the paint is dry and they have been beautifully ribboned up ( suited and booted!)
The weekend is upon us, I have a bunch of orders to post and a dinner to prepare for my friends tomorrow, I love to cook so will be music on and pans and bowls on every surface!
Have a good weekend one and all
Maggie 🌸🎨💫☕️
