@doombikepacking was an adventure. Messaging people after the race caused several ideas to surface. I’ll post those ideas here. First of all, I have childhood friends, college friends, professional friends, but my bike friends (and especially my doom friends) are the best. If you’re reading this, chances are I met you through bicycling(and likely through doom). I’m glad to know you. As far as my race, it went as well as it could have at my current fitness. I had no crashes, no mechanicals, a small nav error that ate up 45 minutes. My sleep strategy seemed pretty optimal, not way too much or way too little. I made some new friends. My only regret is not taking more photos. @ti473 wrote that (I’m paraphrasing) doom is an escape from our everyday lives which are actually doom. Exactly! I’m so proud of my girlfriend @deetroitjenn for crushing the Lovit or Leave it route in one push.
My @tallboy_tuesday_ buds gave me this awesome award! Lots of them signed it on the back. It made me feel like a million bucks. I feel very fortunate to get to ride bikes with rad people. Thank you!
I finished the AZTR and the Triple Crown Challenge (on my singlespeed). Glass half-empty… I didn’t go very fast. I missed out on the tipoff-north rim-state line section due to the Dragon Bravo Fire. Glass half-full… the adventure was rad. The people were rad. Mt. Humphreys was rad. I’m stoked, tired, and filled with gratitude. #bikepacking #aztr #arizonatrailrace
Reposting another story I shared during the #coloradotrailrace . Bikepack racing is the new drug, just like in that song by Huey Lewis and the News. #bikepacking #singlespeedersgetoffmore
Couple of tough cookies right here @natronbom and @the_nat_daddy - taking on the @colorado_trail_race “CTR”- 540 miles of rugged alpine single track riding awaits them, along with whatever weather the Rockies can throw at them!! Good luck you two- thanks for trusting us with the rigs 😎
The Tour Divide was a grand adventure with beautiful scenery and kind, interesting people. I finished the 2700ish mile race course in 20d10h23m. After a hard battle on my final day, I was the third singlespeeder to finish.
