The latest addition to the MaadCode series ✨🙌🏾 MaadCode: origins started to take shape when I was asked what the full Maadphabet character set looked like. The conversations I’ve had with folks about the work since last summer brought this together. A little less mystery, a little more indexing. The set of 42 characters, and the ingredients to the landscapes, laid out in their original forms and colors. This isn’t in alphabetical order, but the order they came to me ✨ what stands out to you?

MaadCode: the knowing of self
2 of 2 brown landscapes in the series, where brown and dark brown flow into each other. My baby bro worked with me on this composition 🥹 what initially was a forgotten layer produced a beautiful and high gloss finish.
Material details are up on my website 🫶🏾✨

Working on this was not fun lol I started this in 2024 and literally tucked it away in a closet because hated the way it was going every step of the way. Certain pieces are clear in my mind, this one came together on its own. There’s moments that I love and moments that grind my gears, but it’s part of the learning.

Join us on Saturday, April 4th, for an evening of film and conversation with exhibiting artists Lisa Diane Wedgeworth and Natou Fall. Featuring Wedgeworth's The Calling and Untitled (Home Depot) alongside Fall's Ci Kanam, these works explore ancestral memory, embodiment, and the spiritual pull toward wholeness through meditative moving image. Following the screening, curator Naomi Stewart will lead an intimate conversation with the artists on themes of resilience, rest, and reclamation. Light refreshments will be provided.

A bridge. A prayer circle. A resistance.
This past few weeks have been of reflections, not just on the feedback from last month’s art week but from the generous conversations I’ve had about my practice and its development.
A bridge between my abstract language and my figurative work, I’ve had this piece in my mind for a month and seeing it complete is bringing me closer to understanding the bigger picture…framed in words of gratitude and defiance
