Choose a book in the store or BYOBook. Readings will also be accessible and amplified on Nuʻuanu Ave via sound system. Mai paʻa i ka leo! Someone wise often reminds us: “Some of my best friends… are books!” (Someone wise is Maile Meyer)
You are warmly invited to join Ho‘opono – Mutual Emergence, a monthly engagement series with Aunty Manu (Dr. Manulani Aluli Meyer) and invited guests, grounded in the teachings of her book Hoʻopono Mutual Emergence.
In Hoʻopono, Aunty Manu reminds us that “knowledge does not stand alone—it lives in relationship.” These gatherings offer space to sit with the text, reflect together, and explore what it means to learn, listen, and emerge in community.

✨ In our May workshop at @nativebookshi , we will be making a Turkish Map Book on 5/9 (Sat) &10 (Sun). This is a 2-day workshop where we will create a blank book from scratch that we will fill with folded maps. 📗
This book is perfect not only for maps, but also for storing leaflets or flyers and other folded papers. The folded maps open and close automatically as you open the book and turn the page. It can hold a map up to eight times larger than the size of the book itself. 😉
Make it a meaningful Mother’s Day weekend – come with your mom, bring a loved one, or treat yourself to a creative experience together. ❤️
So, join us to create this unique pop-up style book together. Registration is available on our homepage. Seats are limited, so don’t miss this opportunity!
We look forward to seeing you there. 🤙

The Coptic Binding workshop will be this Saturday, 4/25! 🥰
Would you like to make an ancient-style book with your own hands? 🤙
Coptic binding is one of the earliest forms of bookbinding, dating back to the 2nd century AD. In those days, pages were made of parchment and covers were made of wood. There was no glue – books were simply sewn together with thread. It was a very primitive structure, yet exceptionally flexible and durable. 📚
At this workshop, we will create a book using modern materials while following the original Coptic binding structure. 😇
This workshop is perfect for book lovers and craft lovers alike. No experience with bookbinding? No problem! We will be there to guide you, so please come and enjoy the experience of handmade bookbinding with us. ❤️
Seats are limited, and registration is available on our homepage (please see our bio). 🙋♀️
We very much look forward to seeing you there! ✨
