AURN White House Correspondent @ebonymcmorris sits down with @real_sharpton for a definitive look at the headlines shaking the nation. 🏛️🎙️ Full interview on our YouTube channel and in our stories 👆🏽
Key Points:
First, the fallout from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting, analyzing the “unusual” security response and the political blame game coming from the administration. Rev. Sharpton, a survivor of political violence himself, addresses the hypocrisy of federal rhetoric and the pushback from Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
Up next, the Department of Justice’s move to reschedule marijuana. Is moving it from Schedule I to Schedule III enough? Rev. Sharpton explains why this is a half-measure that ignores generations of ruined lives, calling for full Presidential Pardons and expungements.
Finally, the redistricting battles in Florida and Virginia. With Governor @flgovrondesantis stacking the Florida Supreme Court to legalize gerrymandering, Rev. Sharpton breaks down the anti-democratic playbook used to dilute Black voting power.
🗣️ THE DEBATE: Is marijuana rescheduling a win for the community, or does it fall short without pardons? Let us know in the comments!

“Black leaders and activists are condemning the Supreme Court’s decision to toss out a majority-Black congressional district in Louisiana. The landmark ruling now opens the flood gates for future stripping of protections granted by the Voting Rights Act of 1965. And all Black Americans should be paying close attention.
We’ve been keeping up with the historic case, which was birthed from President Donald Trump’s ongoing redistricting effort before the November midterms. Now that the high court has issued a devastating decision, President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund Janai Nelson, who litigated the case, described the ruling as a “grave betrayal of the 14th and 15th Amendments.” She added the decision does not reflect the decades of service which the Supreme Court proclaims. “The 6-3 majority decision is the height of hypocrisy and exemplifies the Court’s waning credibility on matters of civil rights and racial justice,” she said. “The ruling is devastating for Black Louisiana voters and for fair representation for all voters of color.” Other civil rights activists like Rev. Al Sharpton are fuming at the decision, especially given Black Americans historic fight for equal rights during the Civil Rights Movement.
“Today’s decision is a bullet in the heart of the voting rights movement,” he wrote in a statement with the National Action Network. “The Supreme Court has not just weakened a law, it has humiliated and dismantled the life’s work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, and every man and woman who marched, bled, and died for Black Americans to have an equal voice at the ballot box.”
Louisiana v. Callais specifically focused on Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which is known as the central safeguard against redistricting efforts to disenfranchise Black folks and others based on race. In Louisiana, Republicans questioned the legality of a new majority-Black district.
La. Rep. Cleo Fields, one of two Black representatives of the district, expressed his disappointed following the ruling...” - Full article via /black-leaders-react-to-devastating-scotus-louisiana-dec-2000102407

Standing with California leaders against attacks on Black voters and weakening voting rights. Our ancestors sacrificed for our voices. This is a moral, justice, and democracy issue. We will not go back. No Justice, No Peace. #VotingRights #BlackVoters #Justice #Democracy #NoJusticeNoPeace #drtecoyporter #JustinJones #NationalActionNetwork #ProtectOurVote #CivilRights

Donald Trump’s approval rating has hit a historic low in the early 30s. 📉 In this #ReAct clip, @real_sharpton breaks down why the nation is turning away, citing the crushing reality of $4.50/gallon gas and the instability of the current economy.
