Our resident rabbit at @nuluum reimagined Easter grass this year with Sesleria autumnalis; a fresh, contemporary choice we love. Tiny troublemaker, impeccable style!
We love receiving updates from our clients. Aconite emerging is a reliable indicator of soil temperatures rising and the first phase of seasonal transition!

Our project @nuluum in Logan Square received Gold at the @landscapeillinois Excellence in Landscape Awards - a garden and gathering space providing plant growth and people growth. Daydreaming with @lolapwright and @nathanwrightla about how to revitalize Nuluum in a high-impact, fast time-lined, and inspired way was a highlight of 2025, and I canât wait to share what else weâre cooking up at @nathanwrightlandscape
We took a defunct landscape yard in Logan Square and transformed it into a connected campus of garden roomsâredefining how a working yard can also support community gathering.
Big thanks to @landscapeillinois and our entire team @nathanwrightlandscape for the ingenuity, hustle, grit, and extra love it took to reimagine our space for the people of Chicago.
Tonight we won a Gold Award for Commercial Landscape Construction at the 2026 Excellence in Landscape Awards hosted by Landscape Illinois.
Two of our favorite Chicago artists and good friends @_slangism and @heyitsmatthew contributed their incredible work to the space. And @enfuzechicago and @outdoor.lighting.perspectives brought the extra magic through sound and landscape lighting.
@nuluum is a really special place, we hope you visit us soon.
Winter structure, not winter clutter.
Calamagrostis x acutiflora âKarl Foersterâ earns its keep long after the growing season ends. Upright blades, clean lines, and seed heads that catch low light and frost keep the landscape legible and intentional through winter. Itâs architecture first, planting second, holding form instead of collapsing when the season turns.
Design note: cut back late winter, not fall. You keep the structure, protect the crown, and start spring with a cleaner reset.
We are thrilled to be collaborating with @nathanwrightlandscape on a new project in Oak Park! Together, we will be rethinking the way our clients use their outdoor space for family gatherings, events, and recreation. While the NWLD works on designing a beautiful landscape, swimming pool, pickleball court with a potential geothermal field, - lieu will be designing an indoor/outdoor pavilion. The pavilion will, as Nathan says, be âin the landscape rather than on it.â Together, we will create a continuous experience, connection to nature, and consideration for aging-in-place. We could not be more excited to team up on this one!
Â
Our first visit was memorable. Itâs not often we get to have an outdoor brainstorming session on site. We were lucky enough to squeeze it in right before the first big snowfall.
Â
Fun fact: NWLD has been both our client on #nuluum and our collaborator on various projects including #giveandtakehouse & #giveandtakeannex.
