I visited Jagalchi fish market every morning during my short time in Busan. It was the most visceral place I’d ever been—fish stews simmering at food stalls, fishermen haggling over the day’s catch, sea creatures being butchered in plain sight. For days after that trip, every time I closed my eyes, I saw eels writhing and contorting.

We were watching the sun go down by a rocky cove in Xiaoliuqiu, a tiny island in the Taiwan straight. We thought we were completely alone, when out of nowhere this man emereged from the ocean, with 5 fish on his belt, and a speargun in hand. I was pretty blown away. He was kind enough to let me take his portrait.
