Heartbroken to hear of the sudden death of Busbee. The times Lou and I got to work with him and enjoy his big hearted company will forever be highlights in our memories. This pic is with our Jesse from 2005. Our prayers are with his family. Till we meet again. Hugs.
Well done @annajoybrading for this great song! Thanks for helping the church to worship in Spirit and Truth. Produced and mixed by @lukefell Check it out peeps.
Lou and I - along with Sam Blake recently wrote a song called ‘Wonder Of The Cross’. Writing about the cross can certainly be a daunting endeavour but I’m excited about how the song has managed to touch on a few key themes. Firstly, there is a recurring section at the end of the chorus which says AS YOU ROSE YOU RAISED US BACK TO LIFE. With the resurrection being such a fundamental part of what happened at the cross “if Christ has not been raised…we are of all people most to be pitied” (1 Cor 15:16-19) it’s great to keep coming back to that line at the end of each chorus - adding the phrase HIDDEN NOW IN CHRIST when the line repeats. This theme of union with Christ can often be overlooked and is again so fundamental. To that end we included a line in one of the verses PARTICIPATION IN DEATH AND GLORY. Romans 6 and 7 talks about us being buried with Christ in his death…for the purpose of us then having new life. We are now joined to the one who was raised from the dead. Jesus Christ. We’ve also tried to articulate some themes which can often easily be caricatured. GOD’S PERFECT JUDGEMENT, IN LOVE WAS RENDERED. God’s wrath and love were both satisfied at the cross. It’s not one or the other. And Jesus was not forced to the cross against his will by an angry father. ALL OUR OFFENCES JESUS CHOSE TO BEAR. John 10:18 says - “No one takes it (my life) away from me, but I lay it down of my own free will.” There are also lines which try to draw out the theme of Christ’s victory (Christus Victor)
I’m not pretending we’ve articulated everything perfectly or comprehensively, but I do hope that what we’ve penned in this song can be of help in understanding something of what took place on the cross. There is a also a refrain OH YOuR GRACE IS GOOD TO ME. It’s all a work of grace, and we are indeed thankful.
If the song is of interest to you, it’s currently the song of the week on the We Are Worship Web-site. So you can get the music for free../uk/songs/song-library/showsong/wonder-of-the-cross-lyrics-chords-9490
