The former Nueces County Courthouse in Corpus Christi, TX. While not an old structure, the courthouse which was built in 1914, was abandoned in the 1970s due to structural damage amid the Sandy foundation. It was deemed a historical landmark, which kept it from demolition for many years, but it is finally going to be torn down. . . . . #architecturephotography #architecturalphotographer #corpuschristitx #abandonedbuildings

The Brandenburg Gate, Berlin, Germany during Chanukah. The Brandenburg Gate is a neoclassical monument in Berlin, Germany, built between 1788 and 1791, that has evolved from a symbol of Prussian power to a national emblem of German unity and peace. Inspired by the Propylaea of the Acropolis in Athens, it features Doric columns and is crowned by the Quadriga, a statue of a chariot drawn by four horses. The gate stood in the exclusion zone of the Berlin Wall, making it inaccessible, but after the wall fell, it became a powerful symbol of reunification, famously the site of Ronald Reagan’s “tear down this wall” speech. . . . . #brandenburggate #berlin #architecturephotography

Neuschwanstein Castle is a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace in Bavaria, Germany, built by King Ludwig II as a personal retreat and a monument to medieval German legend, famously inspiring Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle. Located near the town of Füssen, it’s a major tourist attraction known for its fairytale appearance, though it was never fully completed. King Ludwig died under mysterious circumstances before he could complete the castle. Key facts Builder: King Ludwig II of Bavaria, who intended it as a private refuge from public life. Construction: Began in 1869 but was halted after the king’s death in 1886; only a fraction of the planned rooms were finished. Style: A historicist design inspired by medieval German knights’ castles, with elements from the Wartburg castle. Inspiration: Served as the model for the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland. Location: Perched on a rugged hill above Hohenschwangau, near Füssen, in the Bavarian Alps. . . . . #bavaria #neuschwansteincastle #architecturephotography #architecturephotographer

Looking back from the garden at Linderhof, the smallest palace built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Unfortunately, they don’t allow photography inside the residence, but I am so glad I got to visit Versailles recently, as most of the interior here is based on it. Can’t wait to go back to visit this in the spring to see it all in bloom! . . . . . #linderhofpalace #bavaria #architecturephoto #architecturephotography #architecturephotographer

The snow-covered garden at Linderhof Palace, Bavaria, Germany. Linderhof Palace, near Ettal, Germany, is the smallest of King Ludwig II’s three palaces, and the only one he lived to see completed, serving as his private retreat inspired by French Rococo and the world of Wagnerian opera. Known for its opulent interiors and elaborate gardens, it features the famous Venus Grotto, the Moorish Kiosk, and the Cascade, all set within a landscape park in the Bavarian Alps. Visits are by guided tour only, with the palace and park offering a glimpse into the king’s extravagant and secluded world. . . . . #linderhof #architecturephotography #architecturephotographer #bavariagermany

The BMW HQ in Munich, Germany. As a fan and photographer of architecture, this was incredible to see in person. BMW’s global headquarters is the iconic, cylinder-shaped BMW Tower (BMW-Hochhaus) in Munich, Germany, designed by Karl Schwanzer and completed in 1972, symbolizing a four-cylinder engine and serving as a major landmark next to the BMW Welt and Museum. It’s located at Petuelring 130, 80809 Munich, a key hub for the German luxury automaker. Also notable is that it’s located across the highway from the sight of the 1972 Summer Olympics. . . . . #architecturephotography #architecturephotographer #bmwhq #munich

Images from a personal project: Following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963, a small suburban home in Irving, Texas, and those living there were caught up in the whirlwind surrounding the tragedy. Half a century later, the historic home has been restored to its 1963 look and opened as a multimedia museum to tell the story of the events that occurred there. Ruth Paine’s house is where alleged JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald spent the night before shots rang out at Dallas’ Dealey Plaza ― claiming the life of President Kennedy. The story of the events surrounding the assassination has engrossed historians, scholars and everyday Americans for decades. In 2009, the City of Irving purchased the Ruth Paine House to preserve its historical integrity; in 2013, it created a museum within so that visitors can have a rare encounter with history. . . . . #ruthpainehouse #112263 #architecturephotography #midcenturymodern #irvingtx
