It’s been great to be part of Halifax Partnership’s Productivity Puzzle over the past year—and especially to join this week’s event as a gold sponsor.
The event brought together leaders, economists, and partners from across sectors to share insights on strengthening productivity and advancing inclusive prosperity in Halifax and across Nova Scotia.
We were proud to contribute to Monday’s program, with remarks from our Managing Partner, Kevin McCann, and a conversation led by Jane Taber on the path forward for regional growth.
Congrats to the @livinginhalifax team for leading such a timely and impactful conversation! 👏
#50years50stories | Demonstrating that trust is earned, not declared
In 2017, Atlantic Central Credit Unions faced a fundamental question. As the organization representing independent credit unions across Atlantic Canada, it wanted to validate that its values of honesty, fairness, and trust resonated in a financial sector often viewed with skepticism.
The challenge was to prove those values, not merely promote them. Words alone would not differentiate credit unions from larger financial institutions. The organization needed tangible evidence that its principles were reflected in the communities it serves.
NATIONAL designed a simple but bold experiment. Twelve wallets, filled with cash and identification, were intentionally lost across the four Atlantic provinces. Nine were returned, every dollar intact. The unscripted moments were captured and shared, transforming regional insight into a powerful public demonstration.
The activation sparked national and international coverage and shifted the conversation around credit unions from claims to proof. At a time when trust in financial institutions was under scrutiny, it publicly validated the values credit unions stand for. It turned belief into measurable growth, including a significant increase in youth memberships.
In a sector built on trust, the experiment proved that credibility is not declared; it is earned in public.

#50years50stories | Rallying a province behind a historic opportunity
In 2011, Irving Shipbuilding was selected as Canada's combat shipbuilder under the under the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy. The decision marked a defining economic moment for Nova Scotia and positioned Halifax at the centre of Canada’s shipbuilding future.
The challenge was to turn a major procurement announcement into shared public confidence. The opportunity had to move beyond an industrial decision and become a unifying cause that communities, businesses, and leaders could stand behind.
NATIONAL led the creation of the rallying cry “Ships Start Here”, building a simple and cohesive narrative rooted in economic impact, legacy, supply chain strength, and a new generation of shipbuilders. Business leaders, community champions, and government voices were positioned as credible advocates, amplifying the message across digital platforms and public engagement initiatives.
The campaign generated visible, nationwide expressions of support and reinforced public confidence at a critical moment. What began as a procurement decision became a collective affirmation of Nova Scotia’s role in Canada’s industrial future.
A demonstration of how NATIONAL transforms economic opportunity into collective momentum.

We recently launched our latest campaign with @eastlinkca 🎉
Together, we introduced their built-in WiFi security offering—reframing internet security as a must-have and helping parents feel more in control of their family’s online safety.
The campaign leans into a simple truth many families recognize: parents can’t watch every screen, every second. In a house full of devices, curious kids, and endless links, it’s a reality many parents know well. Kids will click, and Eastlink is there to help keep families safe.
Shoutout to our production partner @villageworkshfx for helping bring the project to life 🎬
This morning, we welcomed students of the 2025–2026 NSCC Public Relations program to our Halifax office. They spent time learning about agency work, asking sharp questions, and getting a glimpse into how we operate and integrate our service offerings at NATIONAL.
Thanks for coming, NSCC! Wishing you the best of luck as you prepare for your work placements.

💜Today is National Children’s Hospice Palliative Care Day 💜
Every year on the 2nd Thursday of October, we raise awareness about the importance of children’s hospice palliative care and how it improves the quality of living and dying for children with serious illness and their families.
Today, we honour the incredible strength and love of children living with serious conditions, and the families, caregivers, and healthcare teams who walk beside them every step of the way.
💡 Did you know? The Maritimes is one of the only regions in Canada without a dedicated children’s hospice. Each year, over 160 children in our region die, and thousands more live with complex medical needs.
Pediatric palliative care is about more than medicine. It’s about creating meaningful moments, supporting families with compassion, and ensuring every child feels safe and cherished.
Maritime Children’s Hospice is proud to advocate for this essential care—and we’re working to bring the first children’s hospice to Nova Scotia. You can be part of this movement.
