The biggest climb of the week—Big Almaty Lake.
35km and 1900m climb away from where we stay.
Long, steady, and quiet climb.
“You guys opened the season. Nobody wants to go there yet, it’s still freezing up there”, said the locals.
Indeed, it was literally freezing. The lake was still frozen white.
But I couldn’t help but be amazed. Just look at the photos—you’ll know what I mean 😉

Tomorrow, they’ll cover 160 kilometers around the island. Five legs, five roles, one relay moving without pause. No solo efforts, just trust passed forward with every handoff.

Today, I’ll be teaming up again with @natashacapirossi for another fresh challenge, The Japanese Odyssey, a 13-day ultra-endurance ride across Japan.
The route covers 2,300 km with more than 50,000 meters of climbing, taking us through volcanic coastlines, ancient forests, sacred mountain passes, and small towns where time moves slower. Every day will be its own adventure, with new challenges and unexpected moments along the way.
We’re rolling on @specialized_id , shifting with @sramindonesia , guided by @garminid , fully kitted in @maap.cc , and powering every pedal stroke with @quoc_asia .
Excited to see what Japan has in store this time.
