Especially when It comes to the narratives we’re creating for ourselves as black women.

I often think about how our generation won’t have those genuine old photos of themselves to look back on. The chubby ones, the awkward ones. The real ones.
The unfiltered moments that actually reflect tho they really are.
Sure this is a professional photo. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t things a retoucher wouldn’t tweak about it. Slimmer face, smoother skin, brighter complexion to name a few.
Before I started modeling I never felt insecure. I never picked myself apart. I had cubby cheeks, imperfect teeth, and I was happy. I miss that girl
So here’s to my younger self telling my older self a life lesson.
Stop trying to appear perfect. Special. Important.
