“Helena Minginowicz’s artistic practice engages with elusive, intangible phenomena that shape our hopes, aspirations, and desires. Rejecting the façade of the omnipresent imperative of happiness, the artist creates a space for an honest confrontation with states of emotional crisis, uncertainty, failure, as well as feelings of lack, inadequacy, and existential void. She is interested in how the dynamics of interpersonal relationships — a space marked by constant fluctuation, change, and the necessity of negotiation — influence our relationship with ourselves (…)”

Happy spring equinox with my Primavera and its heralds! 🪽
A few beautiful words by @natalla.cc about this painting from the exhibition ‘Over-sensitive’:
Primavera – which, due to the coincidence of titles, is associated with the famous painting by Botticelli – in Borowiecka’s rendition strikes with its paradoxical naturalism. While in the work of the Renaissance master, the allegory of fertility, revival, and (re)birth is presented in an idealised entourage, in Borowiecka’s painting Spring is no longer so lush and vividly green. It is beginning to wither, with the sun scorching it. The state of the landscape seems to emphatically reflect the inner situation of the protagonist, who becomes the epitome of a modern mother: with her children (here: storks bring them) under her arm and laden with bundles, signalling the excess of her responsibilities. Not at all holy, as signified by an ornamental plate instead of a halo, her wish is to drink a cup of tea in peace and quiet. However, in a clash with reality, this vision tends to burst like a soap bubble. Al though unpredictable situations (such as the ‘surprise’ on the frills of her skirt) are part of her everyday life, she tries to keep it all together.
