Songs for the Crossing is not just a performance.
It is a space to feel what many of us have been holding quietly.
A journey through silence, control, endurance… into something we don’t often allow ourselves: being seen, being held, being in relation.
If you’ve been moving through life on your own— this work might speak to you.
I’ll be holding the sonic field through guzheng, percussion, voice, and electronics, shaping a space where listening becomes care, and sound becomes a way back to each other.

Disruptor – Transforming music education through the art of playing with sound.
Some journeys begin with a clear map. Mine began with learning to listen.
I carry ideas that sit between worlds — arts and education, research and motherhood, wellbeing and community. Ideas that ask a simple yet radical question:
What if music education began not with playing notes, but with listening to the world?
Choosing to walk this path means building something that does not yet exist. It means being misunderstood at times, explaining your vision again and again, and learning to persist even when the road feels uncertain.
But I believe deeply that the work will find its way.
As a SonicPlay Artist and Pedagogista, my practice invites people to rediscover the beauty of sound — not only through instruments we are taught to play, but through the living soundscape around us.
In the clear resonance of Metal （金).
In the quiet rustling of Wood (木).
In the flowing rhythms of Water (水). In the warmth and spark of Fire (火). In the grounding stillness of Earth (土).
These elements remind us that sound is everywhere: shaping how we feel, how we relate, and how we care for the spaces we inhabit.
In a world of rapid technological change and shifting social realities, the ability to listen may be one of the most human capacities we have left. Listening cultivates empathy. It reconnects us to one another — heart to heart, ear to ear.
The Chinese character 聽 reminds us that listening is never only done with the ears. It requires the heart, the eyes, the mind — the whole body in presence.
This is the spirit of SonicPlay. A return to listening. A return to humanity.
Sometimes disruption begins with something very simple:
learning to listen again.

As a musician, or more precisely a sound artist, sound has always been central to my life and work.
My journey began with the piano, continued through the Chinese orchestra, and expanded into various band set-ups and experimental practices. Across these experiences, sound has never simply been something to perform. It has been a way of understanding the world.
Through my PhD research, and even more profoundly after becoming a mother, my relationship with sound deepened. I became increasingly aware of how listening and responding to sound are fundamental human capacities that shape our survival, relationships, and sense of belonging.
Sound is not just an artistic medium.
It is a way of being in connection with one another and with the environments we inhabit.
Through my work as a sound artist, educator, and researcher, I explore why listening matters and how sound shapes the way we learn, grow, and relate to the world.

A weekend of birthday celebrations come to an end.
My #dodosaurus is now 8. Still a boy, sometimes a baby, forever my sweetheart, growing into a little man.
Motherhood is indeed a bittersweet journey. Being a mother with some knowledge in child development as an arts educator is a mixed blessing.
As I navigate through my firstborn’s middle childhood years, I wish for more pauses, compassion, and simplicity - as my baby boy’s experiences shape him into his boyhood’s being.
