💬 This photo was actually happy accident. I love shooting wedding portraits on medium format film, but my Mamiya 645 AFD can be finicky and decide to not advance to the next frame. I can usually tell by the sound of the shutter. When I took this image of the couple kissing I immediately recognized that the roll didn't advance so I decided to try a double exposure with the planter of pink flowers sitting right next to me, which just so happened to super close in color to the brides bouquet and bridesmaid dresses - HOT PINK!

People never talk about this, but photographers experience major decision fatigue.
By the time I’m culling, my brain is fried.
So everything feels equally “good”… which makes it harder to choose the strongest images.
When I’m going through images from a shoot, I’m really looking for 3 things:
1. Emotional impact Is the pose communicating an emotion?
2. Framing Is the composition actually working with the set?
3. Sharp focus Eyes open. Eyes sharp.
If a photo doesn’t hit all three, it’s out. The @narrativeapp It helps me be more decisive and save a lot of time as I cull.

💬 Shot during my Mother’s Day minis, these images are a mix of soft florals and real, unfiltered moments, cuddles, giggles, and a little bit of chaos. There’s something so powerful about mums with their babies in nature. It feels like a quiet rebirth a season of growth, love and nurturing. Just like the flowers around them, everything is blooming.

💬 The B+W is a favorite memory captured on film from my first visit to Zion National Park in 2023. The Double exposure is also on film and was taken of a mural by @artsy_elaine (Elaine Stephenson) in Atlanta in 2021. The third image of the greenery was taken in Costa Rica earlier this year and caught my eye as a beautiful moment in nature of life unfurling and literally stretching outward as its awakening.
