He spent much of his childhood living in the Occupied West Bank and continued to travel between there and the U.S. throughout his adulthood. He received a B.A. and M.A. degree in English from Old Dominion University, and a Doctor of Letters Degree from Drew University in New Jersey. He currently teaches English at Tidewater Community College and Old Dominion University.
