Looking at distant mountains, I observed them shedding their perceived volume, flattening into two-dimensional images. This phenomenon extends beyond landscapes to the very objects in front of us. While we assume we perceive objects in 3D, we may actually be synthesizing fragmented data—the "front" and the "back"—inside the brain. My interest lies in this inherent glitch of human perception.
For this project, I have intentionally limited the visual information to the front and back planes, manifesting them as physical entities within the space. I feel that it is precisely through rigid constraints like gravity that ambiguous visual data can finally anchor itself in this world as a unified object. In our contemporary era of informational and material surplus, reconstructing objects from minimal fragments serves as a vital process for me to decipher the world. By highlighting the dissonance between sight and touch, I invite the viewer to experience the uncanny wonder of an object's mere presence.
