Playing around between pieces while listening to the new Jilly from Philly.
Every song is my favourite so far, and I especially enjoyed the filthy bass in “To B Honest”.
Anyway, the nice thing about music is that it doesn’t need your thoughts.
The @artschoolafrica Summer Exhibition is still on at @thepresidentct until March.
I have two pieces showing:

YES TEMPLE is the shape of a “cellular yes”
Made freestyle, like all my work, this one records every moment my system said “yes” and I followed it. Yes, make it orange. Yes, soema put white over the orange. Yes, add another layer up. I allowed myself to follow that without argument, and this is what that process ended up looking like.
What the finished thing looks like is none of my business, really. It’s a visible record of the trail of yeses that carried it into being.
This is a temple to having the guts to stay the course as the creative spark floods you, and to staying honest while making. It’s about not managing the outcome, only responding truthfully to what wants to happen next.
An experiment in creatorship mythology made for Once Upon A Time, @rust_en_vredegallery + Clay Museum
SEEN ☀️ The sun’s rays are ancient by the time they cast light and shadow across our world, touching everything from our skin to wheat for bread. ‘Seen’ imagines the same for the inner world - that the natural gifts we carry are ancient by the time they appear to illuminate our lives.
In this myth, the sun is you remembering yourself.
(And still, even the sun must submit to the weather in the mighty kiln.)
Created for Once Upon A Time, @rust_en_vredegallery + Clay Museum. See it there until early December.

How Many Homegirls Does It Take To Jump A Timeline?

Stoneware
-
The earthly and ancestral homegirls as mythic figures. Without them, no lone woman can push – or be pulled – through the gutters of growth and pain into
states of flourishing.
Part portal, part altar, this piece stands as an offering and an evidence of those who intervene when life collapses in on itself, bending time as an act of love so
that true healing becomes possible.
See it at @rust_en_vredegallery + Clay Museum until early December.

Give thanks to my homegirls on Earth and elsewhere 🩷
These are glimpses of new works made for Once Upon a Time, a ceramics exhibition at @rust_en_vredegallery + Clay Museum opening on 8 November at 11 am.
They come from a place of mischief and necessary mythical medicines of my own. The show brings together artists exploring myth, folklore and fairytale through clay. Come and see it all.
