A few of my fave moments from the new live set, performed recently at @radio_bar for Terminal. Took a risk and luckily it paid off, writing a new set from the ground up in the 2 weeks leading up. Had heaps of fun with this one 🧡 can't wait to play it again! Big thanks to @pathologicalfunction and the other performers on the night, especially the insane set by @collieperfect 🤯

@hardware_theory #14 would like to announce the return of @nards_live to @subclubmelbourne this time in an electric duo presentiation with @her.waveform ⚡️05.04.25 not to be missed!! In 2019, Naarm-based LIVE techno artist and producer Nards made a decision to devote his entire life to the sole pursuit of creating music – music that he wanted to hear, but didn’t yet exist. Over the 10 live performances since his Sub Club debut in 2023, he has become known for his unmistakably unique, fully-improvised, 100% LIVE hardware performances & productions. As a disciple of techno, Nards’ artistic approach is a product of his life-long obsession with sound, preferring to synthesise each of the sonic elements he uses on his analog hardware, synths and drum machines. He works in ‘flavours’ – each performance or production project lives within a specific domain which has an expiry date. As a result, each of Nards’ performances is a unique experience never to be repeated again. Featuring complex grooves and heavily experimental sound design, Nards’ style is ever-evolving. He creates from what inspires him most in life, and is obsessed with rejecting conventional ideas of what Techno ‘should’ be – instead, preferring to view Techno as a blank canvas with infinite possibilities. Warped vocal samples, jarring visuals and a spine-chilling build-up - how could we pick anything else for this week’s Wild One clip.   ‘Cow Costume’ is only a snippet of a three hour fully improvised transient jam sesh between Naarm based artists @her.waveform and @nards_live , two techno producers who soak listeners with a healthy dose of experimental hardware grooves.   Taken from Her Waveform’s project ‘Warmth and Green Water’, Cow Costume is part of a collection of techno and ambient works on modular synths that explores themes of mental illness, substance abuse and relationships.   “The track was named ‘Cow Costume’ after a woman that I was dating who had recently ghosted me around Halloween 2023, the same day that the jam session was recorded,” said Her Waveform. “To me, the track evoked the feelings of excitement and confusion I felt in this relationship. The intense feeling of joy, connection and the devastation of the heartbreak.   Capturing imperfection is at the centre of the project, but Cow Costume and it’s accompanying video, directed by @benskeller , pairs together perfectly to showcase how quickly anxiety can spiral out into a million different thoughts, feelings and actions.   “When Her Waveform approached me with his recent album, ‘Cow Costume’ really stood out to me. It was his personal connection to his work that resonated deeply with me. Ultimately this idea of temporal love and a natural fear of being alone I felt married well with the track,” said Keller.   “It was important to me to elicit a journey of fleeting love and the parallels of the stages of grief. I devised specific effects to accentuate the inner life of the character that I thought would evoke a more universal response.”

Her Waveform and nards' debut music video will be featured of ABC Rage this Friday night! 'Cow Costume' is a tiny snippet of a 3 hour long improvised hardware techno jam which nards and Her Waveform recorded the first time they met up. The film was shot over 3 days with a 3 person crew and very minimal budget. @thecreekco Super proud of the team for this project and thanks to everyone who has been supporting and sharing.
