Oh, we’re celebrating 2016!? 👀 #bet Space Buns, skinny jeans, and blue and black lipstick were trending. So were “Boxer Braids” but we don’t talk about that… 🫠 Sunglasses had to be worn below the eyebrows or not at all. Olivia was just 4 years old, at that time, an only child. Her swag and future sassy tude was written in the cards. I was married, but hey, not everything in 2016 was perfect.. 😝 The YouTube Natural Haircare scene was popping! Us Natural Hair OGs worked out asses off for YEARS, sharing all of our free tips, hacks, and recipes, and around 2016 is when we started enjoying the unexpected fruits of our labor! 🎉 My favorite pastime was sharing edgy hairstyles, Afros, and simple and effective DIYs 😍🌱 There was some texturism discussions, so this was the year I introduced #ManeCrushMonday, sharing my platform with other creators who I thought had gorgeous locks of various curl types and textures. It was probably my biggest traveling year! Some of the bigger trips included being invited to the White House by @michelleobama where I also met the amazing @dominiquedawesofficial who gave me one of the best hugs of my life 😭❤️ I linked up with my girls @mrsalbaramos and mahoganycurls to break the internet with our Charlie’s Angels photo on the set of the @sheamoisture Break The Walls commercial, which also broke the natural hair internet later in the year… 😬🫣 Meeting Hillary Clinton was terrifying because my community wanted me to ask her some tough questions at the YouTube Town Hall… The inaugural #YouTubeBlack event took place and it was the most epic family reunion ever! #WhatATime!! Fun fact: us creators in this first group actually gave it the name #YoutubeBlack 👌🏾👌🏾 I joined @richelieudennis on The Real as we discussed natural hair! @jeiniemai got cut off on the left there!! 😭 I met @KellyRowland backstage at Beautycon, who told me that my videos had helped her care for her son’s hair! I almost passed out… @Essence blessed me with a full page article for holiday, and my New Years Confetti Bun broke the damn internet… 🙄😂 Lastly, I became pregnant with Theodore towards the end of the year! 🥰🎉 2016 owes me nothing! 🙏🏾✨

Perimenopause and stress are the culprits of my hair-loss and hair thinning 😭🫩 Here’s my basic weekly routine 📝 I’m not perfect with it, but I try my best: 🔸4 days/week: Red light laser therapy. MUST have laser, not all red light devices are equal (my practitioner-recommended device is linked in my bio) | 5 MINS on each part of your head (30 sec is recommended in instructions, but my practitioner told me to do 5 mins) 🔸2 days/week: Head stands. These are fun and work your core balance. It’s an inversion that gets the blood moving to your head. I don’t like too much pressure on my scalp though, so I limit these. Can alternatively do “downward dog” yoga pose | 1-2 MINS 🔸 7 days/week: Supplements. I use my local practitioner’s brand, but I’m told it’s equivalent to @nutrafol 💊 I also take separate iron, vitamin D, tumeric, fish oil, flaxseed oil, and calcium 🔸 7 days/week: Inversions 😍 Lay over your couch or bed. Let your head hang so that the blood travels to your scalp. Enjoy a massage! Lower down slowly—lower back up VERY SLOWLY | 1 MIN 💋
