We are proud to announce Shakti, directed by Nani Sahra Walker — an Academy Award-winning executive producer, writer, and director — as the Closing Night Film of the Nepal America International Film Festival 2026. Screening on Sunday, June 28, at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, the film stars Laxmi Bardewa, Menuka Pradhan, Maotse Gurung, and other talented artists. The film follows a free-spirited girl named Lila, along with her mother and aunt, as they navigate societal expectations and gender roles in Kathmandu. Nani Sahra Walker is a Nepali-American filmmaker, writer, and producer from Kathmandu, now based in Los Angeles. She gained international recognition as the executive producer of The Last Repair Shop, which won the 2024 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short.
