So emotional and proud seeing my daughter, Nefertiti Madida, be part of the launch of the first-ever autistic Barbie doll @barbie .A powerful milestone in inclusive representation and a moment I will hold forever. šāØ #BarbieSouthAfrica #AutisticBarbie
My dear son Shaka celebrated his 9th birthday with his very first solo exhibition, a goal he has quietly and passionately carried for a long time. On that same night, he made his first art sale!
A brave beginning. A dream honoured. A milestone earned at only 9 years old.
Thank you Uncle @thebemagugu šfor offering him such an uplifting creative home, for believing in his work, and for sharing your beautiful space with so much generosity and support. Shaka and the Madida family are forever grateful.
Happy 9th birthday, sweet boy. You stepped into this moment with confidence, courage and creativity leading the way. We are endlessly proud of you. šØā¤ļøšš
What a year. I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you to my amazing team, and especially my babies, my kids Shaka and Nefertiti, the heart behind this platform. I am so emotional š„¹š. I really have the BEST kids. Thank you GOD for speaking to me and giving me a voice when I felt overwhelmed by my gifted kids diagnosisās and giving me the strength to advocate for them openly, so other mothers could feel seen. This platform came because of them! I love my Shakalaks and Nefertiti so much. May we continue to give you more healing, inspiring and relatable stories! @themotherhoodnetworkza
In this sweet Motherās Day special, Nandi asks Shaka a question that gives us a glimpse into motherhood through a childās eyes.
Sometimes, the most honest answers come from the little people watching us love, work, sacrifice, show up, and keep going every day.
This one is tender, innocent, and straight from the heart.

Today is Apraxia Awareness Day š
I always tell my sweet daughter Nefi, Nefertiti, that she is a force and that one day she will advocate for many autistic people. She will help bring clarity, compassion, and understanding to a community that is so often misunderstood. I am so proud of my girl āØ
Many autistic individuals are also apraxic, meaning there can sometimes be a disconnect between the brain and the body, making it difficult to control movements or speak verbally.
This is not an intelligence issue.
This is not a hearing issue.
This is not a lack of understanding.
For many, speech is a motor challenge. The thoughts may be there. The understanding may be there. The words may exist clearly in the mind, but the body may not always cooperate.
That is why we must always presume competence.
Communication does not only happen through spoken words. A keyboard, spelling to communicate, AAC, gestures, typing, S2C, pointing, writing, or other forms of expression are all valid and powerful ways to communicate.
An autistic childās body may sometimes betray them, but that does not mean their mind is empty.
Every child deserves patience.
Every child deserves dignity.
Every child deserves access.
Every child deserves to be understood.
This Apraxia Awareness Day, may we listen differently, support more intentionally, and remember that every voice matters, whether spoken or not.
Some voices are heard with words.
Some are heard through presence, persistence, and the courage to keep trying.
But all voices matter š
